Question New to the Zine and looking for answers.

Hello everyone,

I own a 97 cl 3.0l and have a few questions that need answering. First off, I would like to do the 6 speed swap to this before I really sink my teeth into the motor seeing as this will make the car response better. So I just need to know what trans to look for and what other honda/acura parts I need to search the local junkyards for. Second I would like to swap the intakes and heads I have read the other posts about this and I understand that the j32a2 heads and cams will fit with minor piston work but I would like to know if the 3.5 or the 3.7 would also work.

Welcome to the forums.

I deleted the thread you posted 6 minutes after your last post in this thread.

Please be patient. This is the getting off from work and going home time for a lot of our members and we don't have anyone working full time to answer questions. Also, a lot of people are being distracted by a big wind called Sandy which also affects the knowledge base.

I'm sure someone will be along soon and comment on your post.

36 minutes to give a complete list of parts on a manual swap? High expectations, my friend. I would suggest a 1997 Mustang GT swap. You have a car with a drivetrain you don't like, you want power, you haven't done anything to it yet. It all adds up as a no brainer to me. I know you won't agree, but it's solid advice.

Quickbutnotfast, there are a few threads right on the first page about swaps, we're discussing 3.5 swaps currently, as for the 6 speed swap, we've only had 2 members actually do it. Please be patient and wait for people to answer, but you also can search around for info on swaps. Look up cocoa and teh cl for swap info

lol Mustang GT swap.

as for the other threads that talk about 6 speed swaps, I have been through the first ten pages and have only found those dealing with 6speeds mated to a j32a2 not the j30. I have seen a few that said that no one has done that swap to a j30 in a first gen cl.

Just trying to help. They're worth the same, the GT has better acceleration already, responds better to mods, mods are plentiful, and RWD to boot. I would imagine the creature comforts are the same. The only problem is that you'd be another gu with a Mustang, but you could worry about that after you leave a 3.0 CL 6-speed far behind. Different strokes, I suppose.

Its sounding like you my friend should do the swap. I have owned a mustang and heavily built it. not my cup of tea I have been really enjoying the J series v6. This is my first import after a long line of American v6/v8 cars. After a nice bit of thinking and research ive decided to go with the 6 speed swap if it can be done with a few bolt ons and a 50-75 shot since i dont really race people anymore. More for fun
