J32A fit under 1st gen Hood?

Curious does the J32A fit under the hood of the 1st gen CL. I mean the intake manifold is bigger then the J30A1

We have one member who's done this, and one member doing this now. The best option is to use the j32 long block and keep the j30 heads and IM to help with the clearance, otherwise you'll have to shim up or trim your hood

what size are the valves on the j30 compared to the j32? Heads can make a huge difference in horsepower so if you are going to keep the j30 heads I would suggest if nothing else at least put bigger valves in the heads no less than the size of the factory j32 (I am guessing they are different size than the 3.0). I remember when I had a 383 in my Dodge I put 440 valves in the heads and it added some horsepower. The limitation on a combustible engine is air, so the more air you can get in and out the more horsepower you will make, that is why I almost bet the valves are bigger on the j32 than they are on the j30 not just bigger pistons

I wont do that. The j30 heads have small valves and the intake does not flow as much. Cutting the lower part of the hood framw where the front plenuim is is not a big deal i would do that. Till i got a carbon hood then painted it.

The j32 will fit but, as mentioned, part of hood support skeleton will need to cut for the hood to shut completely. The j30 heads will not fit on the j32.

Nice garage build. Wish I was able to complete something like that. Was there a reason you laid the hose through out the ground?

There is 770 feet of pex piping in the floor for in floor heating. Its nice when u walk in there the floor is heated. So much better on the back and knees.
