1999 CL 2.3...F23A1 to H23A DOHC VTEC
Hey guys...been a memebr for a little while...I'm swapping my F23A1 for a H23A DOHC VTEC. Not here looking for information (yet)...just here to share the fun.
I will update this more later as I am off to the garage to get some shit done.
for starter's though...I am goinng to run an P28 chipped for a h22 VTEC OBD1.
I had initially thought the 99 ECU was OBd2 and bought an OBD2-OBD1 converter but have since found out that tyhe 99 is actually an OBD2B...no biggie going to find obd2bto1 converter.
Engine's in...oh yeah...H22 tranny.
I bought the engine from a guy in MTL that was going to put it in his Del Sol (but his sister took it back Actually he dicided to go B18B or C cuz it drops in with no mount mods...anywho...I have found that the wiring harness, while not only being hacked in a couple spots AND RHD, is OBD1, as well as allthe components (alt, IM, Dizzy,...).
TBC...

h23a DOHC is a solid motor..
since you already have a chipped P28, get yourself a good base map for the h23 from phearable.net, the h22 base map isn't giving you the true potential of that beast..
oh and my ..If you can, grab a lightweight crank pulley & 8lb flywheel. Had that on my old h23a & man did that thing move..

Hey Thanks Guys! Learning a lot from this site for sure. great sources of information after you swim through the shit!
Alright...here is where I am at and maybe someone can give me a nudge in the right way. Doing this swap with my boy Chadstick. He a mechanic, loves the hondas but has also never done thisparticular swap. Started this shit in fall (late Oct) and am now swimming in snow and -10 weather, juggling non startable cars to get it in my buddy's garage to do the work at night! Yes...FUN!!! Better than no garage...oh yeah unheated too...woodstove! Yes, we canadians know how to rock and roll! Rollin is what keeps us warm, lol
anyhoo...I got myself a H22 harness. bypassed the CKP and TDC sensors from the oil pump to the dizzy....plugged the harness into the junction at top left of bay...but one plug does not fit...8 prong on the H22 harness, 6 prong on the CL junction...at this point we are mapping out the wires, defining their function and going to try and match them up somehow...
Im not sure of how this is going to work...but if any of you guys has two cents...im broke like a motherfogger...
