Thoughts on upgrading to a 2019 ASPEC

I currently drive a 2015 SHAWD TECH and am considering upgrading to a 2019 SHAWD ASPEC. I was waiting for a redesign but that doesn't seem to be happening too soon. The new car has significant upgrades but still has the same transmission and engine not to mention the dated navigation. Should I wait or pull the trigger?

Depends on of you like the tranny. I had a 15 SHAWD Advance and upgraded to a 19 ASPEC SHAWD, but it is a lease. While the tranny is better it would never want it long term. I love then ASPEC look, and red interior. Car rides good, but is dated. I was hoping for a G70 Sport, but the constant delays last June I opted to stay Acura for a few more years to see the Type-S as if they do that right will be an amazing car. My concern is now that wife has a 19 RDX Advance I am mixed on the new cluster package. Not digging the MID, slow, does not remember where you left it and not laid out well.

Dated navigation isn't an issue for me, because I use Apple Car Play - I'm a big fan of Waze (haven't tried Google Maps or Apple Maps).

I haven't had any complaints about the transmission. When I drive to work (mix of freeway and surface streets), I leave the car in Econ or Normal mode. For twisting country roads, I put it in Sport mode. I like how it performs.

The infotainment system is definitely dated - especially compared to Audi or BMW (I cross shopped A5 and 330i) - but I love the analog gauges, and the system is really easy to use.

The only thing I DON'T like so far is the auto-stop/start function. I wish there was a way to disable it permanently. Having to remember to push a button to disable it on every trek is annoying, because I almost never remember until the system kicks in.

Go ahead and test drive one and get in a mix of highway and stop/go traffic. That's what I did, and I got a really good feel for the car, the safety features, and powertrain.

I'm really happy with my decision!

Used to have the 16 TLX SH-AWD and now I have an 19 TLX A-Spec SH-AWD. I love it. Only thing I would change is the rubber. I want to get a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

What tires came with your car?

The 16 came with horrendus Goodyear Eagle LS2 I believe. I then switch it to Michelin Pilot A/S after and it was the best tires I've ever had. The 19 came with the Michelin Primacy.
