Honda Spirior. wish Acura still design in Japan

The new Honda Spirior for Chinese market version has just been released.
I cannot believe it has a lot of functions that TLX does not even offer, like the HUD projection, leg extension, etc.

Why Acura cannot learn a little bit from his Japanese brother? Please bring the style to America, I'm sure lots of people will love it.

Auto Leg extension! what's wrong with u, Acura?

HUD

Much better than the wheels on I4

Why do we have to pay extra for fog lights?

Acura, see the pipes on your brother's body!

This part, I think Acura is better, but hope Acura can replace the fake wood

I think this is the same engine as TLX I4

They have 2 USB port in front and 1 at the back, I guess Acura think not everyone own a SMART phone in America.

Please bring this design to tlx

this should be avaialbe for Acura!

In my humble opinion, this exterior design is rather overstyled and not very sophisticated.... it's also full of inconsistent design cues. I would rather have my TLX! :-)

Looks like the Spirior got a lot more implemented in it from the TLX prototype than the TLX did. I can't believe I'm gonna say this but I prefer the TLX beak over that shield thing but everything else from the seats, aggressive body lines, exposed exhaust, HUD, 2GTL inspired center stack and the USB port for the back seat is tits.

So this is more the "boy racer" type car. The TLX is far more sophisticated and elegant in its appearance. When I was 30 I would have happily driven this. But the TLX is more upscale looking, which matches where I am in my life. I do agree about the USB port in the back though. You can't have enough power and connectivity.

I like some of the design features like the fogs, exhaust tip styling, HUD, USB ports, and interior lighting, but would want them modified, and refined if brought to the TLX.

As far as the exterior goes, that model is an Si, so it's very busy, and not refined enough for the TLX.

Even if you do like it, aggressive, polarizing styling may be great at first, but it can quickly get old. When it does there go your sales, resale, etc...............

The TLX may not win any design awards, but it looks good, and doesn't offend. It's a risk Acura didn't want to take, and with their nose dive in sedan sales after the gamble with the 4G TL, I can totally understand why.

Hopefully it translates into sales which will then allow them to take some risks in the future; I think it will.

I think some of you think Honda/Acura is just being stupid or out of touch by including certain features in some markets and not in others. But in many cases, it's a matter of them having to include them to compete in some markets. And to include them here would push the price up and make them less competitive in our market.

And you don't know what they've left out to cover the cost of those things.

Car marketing and pricing is a complicated affair - it's a balancing act where even a few dollars spent on a feature or accessory can force something else to be cut. After all, even $1 extra on a million vehicles is $1,000,000. And an accessory that costs 30 or 40 dollars per vehicle can make or break the profitability of a car model.

So the bean counters, designers and marketers have to duke it out and agree on what to include and what to cut. And if HUD displays or heated steering wheels are considered important enough in a given market, they'll get them. But you can bet that either the price is increased or something else bites the dust so that feature can be included.

The answer is probably to make those things available as extra-cost add-ons, but then the carmaker has to factor in the take rate and the extra expense of including them. That sometimes makes them less attractive to buyers. Nothing's easy.

Conceptually I agree with your comments, but a $200-500 higher price of a car will likely not deter me from buying the car but the lack of a feature would. This is not theory as I only purchased the TLX because my preferred vehicle (in a completely different segment) did not offer some the tech features that I wanted.

I'd pay extra for that HUD. I'll bet in a few years we'll start to see that on every Kia on the road so they may as well try to be ahead of the curve.

They could have had an Advance package for the 2.4 with the heated steering wheel and the HUD and etc. Many would go for it IMO - in for a penny in for a pound and whatnot.

That's funny. Just wait a few months. Pretty sure some people are gonna make the TLX look like a boy racer car.

Not in the least, and unlike many people here I am quite happy with the current look. It is two less chrome parts to keep clean and shine, and I am not expecting any carbon build up from the exhaust on the bumper.

This car is very "Honda". In a good way. There are definitely certain cues that on that car that are spot on, look great. Others are indeed over-styled and would never look good on an Acura. Is it possible just to get a medium here? Why 2 different extremes all the time?

I was sitting in an M4 yesterday in complete awe. Sport without "boy-racer". Luxury with elegance. It's serious, polished. The only objection is $90k.

Yes this medium can be found and Acura is very capable. But only if it really wants to.

HUD is planned for the RLX SH-AWD Hybrid so getting it to the TLX shouldn't be that much of a problem.

sorry but that car is butt ugly and over done. the rear bumper looks like a ricey tack on. although it's nice that it does actually have exhausts unlike the tlx.

That car would really help sway me towards Acura if they would bring that car in as is. Thanks for sharing.

That exterior design would work in China, but I think it's overdone for North Americans. However, I think some of the design elements can be borrowed for the TLX!

Features like the leg extension and HUD would be nice to have.

A lot of the features are nice, but I can't get past the overdone/over designed exterior save the exhaust finishes...

Call it a nitpick but I don't like how Honda/Acura has gotten rid of the cover for the cupholders in most of their cars - This car has one though!

The RLX is the only car that still has them in the Acura lineup (and maybe the NSX?)

Looks very much like an Accord though I prefer the exterior styling of regular Accord I see on the road.

Should've restyled this a bit, throw in a turbo K24, give it SH-AWD, and sell it here as a TSX type S or something for mid 30's.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around what is clearly an Accord for the China market. HUD? Would be nice. I test drove a couple of BMWs with HUD. The treatments you have to do to the windshield for the HUD to reflect off of it does not work well with sunglasses. Matter of fact, the HUD display just disappeared when I was wearing sunglasses (which is probably 60% of the time I've driving).

Same thing with my best friend's new Sting Rey (sweet car, BTW). His HUD washes out with sunglasses, too.

As far as the exhausts on that Accord.....in a word, they look hideous.

Speaking to the HUD subject only, the visibility of the HUD in the GS350 wasn't affected much at all by polarized sunglasses. That feature is about all I miss of that car.

Lexus must have done some research. Good to hear their HUD isn't affected by sunglasses.

"Back in the day" I had HUD (monochrome) on my Pontiac GTP. Kind of fun for a couple of months. After that, I didn't really notice it. It's one of those features that I can take or leave.
