Best MPG so far......
Hey Everyone,
I'm quite impressed with this cars Fuel Economy compared to my 12 TL SH-AWD. I knew it would be better, but never expected to be this good. A few weeks ago, i filled up, and hit the highway immediatley for about an hour trip one way. Car was in the Econ mode, and i managed to get my best so far.....6.9L/100 or 40.9MPG for the U.S. folks. This is a TLX V6 SH-AWD......that is quite remarkable....just wanted to share with everyone and to see what is your best MPG so far?

In warmer weather, my TLX SH-AWD also gets better than advertised highway mileage but cold weather affects it noticeably. I look forward to the summer to see how good it can really get.

A little nitpick but 40.9 would be with Imperial gallons. With US gallons, 6.9L is about 34 MPG which is still excellent.

I started off stronger, but Winter gas, horrendous traffic, and the storms have been killing me. I don't really idle the car long other than for when its covered in snow/ice, but my overall mpg is at 21, and mph at 24.
It's a mixed bag, gas is cheaper, buy traffic is worse and my mpg tanked.

My problem is I spend most of the trip between 70-80 mph, 40 mins or so each way. I have noticed that about 85 it seems to float and the mileage shoots way up. Weird.

I have also SH-AWD and driving in very cold weather in Ontario gives me constantly average of around 11.2 L/100km ( 21 mpg). However in the extremely cold weather I am around 12.2 L/100km (19.28 mpg). This is combined driving with frequent slow moving traffic on the Toronto highways. So far I can confirm that this car is using 10% less gas than my old V6 Accord under the same driving conditions. I am talking 200HP Accord, with the 3.0 l engine.

TLX can do this since the DI V6 puts out a lot more power down low, so the engine doesn't have to work as hard to maintain hwy speeds!

Yes, I have experienced amazing gas mileage with my TLX SH-AWD as well. It's better than the official numbers and I am really impressed.
It's a great car overall!!! Still loving it :-)

^^ Hey Ostrich...Off topic so my apologies but I know you like wagons...what do you think of that new Kia wagon? I thought of you when I saw the story on Motor Trend.

WOWOWOWOWOW! I completely missed that Kia Sportspace concept story until just now - thank you for letting me know! I LOVE IT! That thing is AMAZING looking! If it became commercially available, I may just drop my snobbish attitude (oops!) and think about getting a Kia!!!
I love that shooting brake styling - you know, I think that the sexiest vehicle right now is the Mercedes Benz CLS Shooting Brake - when I saw one in Switzerland in 2013, I thought it was absolutely stunning and breathtaking! I so wished that we had that here in Canada....
Anyway, if Acura would produce a TLX sport wagon that is based on the TLX Prototype, I would be in heaven.... :-) I could only dream....

Yeah - I saw an XF wagon in UK this week. Maybe it is the novelty but looked really nice in red. That Kia is stunning...maybe a bit OTT. Something not quite right but from some angles wow!
Our ridiculously mild 2015 is further helping my mileage but still no where near TSX MT in town

On my drive home from picking up the car, I got 40.4 MPG over 50 miles in my V6 (See this thread : https://acurazine.com/forums/fifth-g.../#post15141191). I've also gotten 35-39 MPG on a few trips to Houston and back from Dallas. I just got 39.5 MPG on a 180 mile trip in Texas.

So on my latest tankful I got 7.7 ltrs per 100kms or just over 30mpg US. So better, helped by freakishly warm weather and a quick trip the mountains and back. On the way there I got 7.0 and on the way back 5.7 or 41 US MPG (and at an average speed of 115 kmh, or 72mph, according to trip computer. Helped by a slight tail wind and a slight net altitude drop. Still doubting it will match the TSX but getting better at least. The acid test is summer trips to the cabin in BC. Always under 6ltrs per 100kmh on the way there, best of 5.8. TLX is fo course a far more restful and quiet ride. Looking forward to it. 500kms each way.

Yesterday, drove about 55k in the snowy city and averaged 10.1 litres per 100 k in my 3.5 SH-AWD. Very pleased with that! That would be 22.4 miles per US gallon, or 28 miles per Imperial gallon.

So many poor taste directions to take this (e.g. washable trunk liner), but I will refrain in the interest of propriety.

I own the 8CYL DCT and constantly get 33.5-35.6MPG at 70-73 on my commute to work.
My best range so far was 598miles on a trip from SF to Los Angeles, then continuing to San Diego the following day, coupled with city driving here and there.

I've been tracking the mpg pretty close since I got it: V6 SH-AWD in Econ mode:
27.2 mpg average for three tanks, measured at the pump (mostly commute, 50 miles round trip/day, 30/70 city/hwy mix)
Just did a 220 mile all-highway round trip: 34.0 mpg.

I assume the TLX has something that tells you your MPG (like my 2006 TSX) correct? If so, it might not be a good idea to trust it. The one in my 2006 always reads 1.5-2.x MPG higher than I really got (when I do the math after filling up). I could understand if sometime the displayed number was too high and sometimes it was too low, but after 100k miles it has been too high (too optimistic some might say) every single time. I will say when the they car was brand new it initially was less off. I have heard/read the same thing from many (pretty much all) TSX owners; so it isn't an issue with just my car.

CheeseyPoofs McNut,
I agree that is an acceptable tolerance. It seems obvious to me that on the TSX that Acura added a +1.5 MPG fudge-factor make sure it always read high/optimistic (and that has always annoyed me).

2015 TLX SH-AWD Elite BWP
So far I cannot say I got the a better mileage then my old 4g.
On my regular daily routine home-work-home (a lot of stop and go on the highway) I'm averaging about 15 l/100km (~ 16mpg) .
It's true that I'm using the remote starter on TLX( still cold mornings ~ -10C) which I didn't have on the 4G.
Also I have only 400km on her for now. We will see when the days will be warmer , hopefully soon.

38 MPG this weekend on a 234 mile trip from South Florida to Central Florida. That was in Sport mode. On the way back, going the same route and speed in Econo mode I got 38.2 MPG. Guess I will leave it in Sport mode. For the entertainment it gives me, it's worth losing 0.2 MPG.
p.s Both speeds were 75 MPH.

I experienced the same all the way back to my 2002 Civic Hybrid and my 2006 TSX. For my TLX, I've noticed the car is about 1.5 MPG higher on the display than I measure at the pump. However, for the mostly highway trip, they were almost identical. So maybe the accuracy degrades if your tank consists of multiple trips as opposed to just a few.

As an experiment, motivated by my belief that manuals get better mileage than autos...., I have been using sport + exclusively a couple of days. Being an automated manual, apart from the torque converter on 1 and 2, it should have the same mechanical losses as I a true manual. On my 23 km journey home last night, with no change in speed, but in admittedly good conditions, I got 7.6 l/100kms, which is the first time I have broken 8 on that journey - which has a lot of uphill. I can get under 6 the other way. And overall so far I have the best mileage since new (again partly as conditions are warmer now). Does require a bit of thinking of course but in normal driving I just keep revs between 2 and 3K only letting it get lower on down hill stretches, but making most use of fuel cut off. Some bursts to 4K now and then. At times I am making the car rev more than the auto does, and at times less, depending on conditions. Makes for more interesting and involved driving, though I have to get more used to changing gears with the wheel turned and knowing where the paddles are. Range is now showing a total of just over 900 kms since last refuel.

That's what I was thinking. The gear ratios don't change, right? My understanding is sport mode speeds and/or tightens up the shift points. Of course, my understanding is not always correct!
