Acura sees TLX being top seller
I guess they have no choice but to see the TLX as a top seller. I hope they are willing to price it as a volume seller. Apparently dealers will get briefed on the launch plans in April.
TSX sales were under 900 this last month (yes a slow month across the board) the worst month ever, and 2013 sales were less than any other year including the 1G TSX. The TL also had its lowest selling year.. no surprise since both are on their way out. Somewhere I think I read that TSX production has already ended, or maybe dealers just can't order any longer, but I'm not certain. Acura really needs this to meet thier total brand sales goals of 175,000 annual Acura sales.
I think they can do it with folding rear seats!

NEW ORLEANS -- Acura says the new TLX sedan can become the brand's volume leader, a role once occupied by its predecessor, the TL sedan.
Recalling the days when annual TL sales consistently topped 60,000, John Mendel, American Honda's executive vice president of sales, said after Acura's make meeting here: "We can clearly see TLX adding that kind of volume to the Acura franchise."
Acura showed a prototype of the TLX mid-sized sedan at the Detroit auto show this month. It will replace both the TL and TSX sedans this summer. Acura sold 24,318 TLs last year, third in its lineup behind the MDX (53,040 units) and RDX (44,750) crossovers.
Mendel said the TLX launch will be "a real opportunity for Acura to grow" and predicted that the brand's sales would increase this year. He declined to give a volume target.
A dealer who attended the meeting said that factory officials cited a 175,000-unit target. That would match the 6 percent growth that Acura posted last year, when it sold 165,436 vehicles, trailing the market's overall 8 percent growth. Most forecasters predict industrywide sales growth of 3 to 5 percent this year.
"I think they're looking for sustained growth or maybe a little bit better," said Art Wright, chairman of the Acura Dealer Advisory Board and owner of Lehigh Valley Acura in Emmaus, Pa.
Many questions from dealers at the meeting centered on launch plans for the TLX, Wright said.
"I think it's going to be a sizable launch, probably one of the biggest launches Acura has ever had."
In April, dealers will be briefed on launch plans for both the TLX and the NSX sports car, Wright said.
He added that Acura also wants to increase certified-used sales this year by as much as 10 percent.

The TLX will be what's hot in 4-6 months. Athletic red to open the doors of Summer.
I fully predicate the TLX to be selling like crazy. I am in a Fraternity and I got at least 20 different guys along with all their friends willing to lease/buy cars within the next year. The vast majority of their price range is from 34k-43k......
I already showed them all the pictures of the TLX and they all loved it. I also told them how bad Audi A4'S are and how their oil leaks and stuff and they all are aware of this now. I told them Q50'S are for old people, and C Class is for people who can't buy E Class.. so don't get that. I told them BMW 3 Series is a great car but that's a common buy for it's segment.. I also stressed the street credit of the 'A'. showed them a bunch of NSX pictures and told them the TLX is for fast people..
My sister is in a sorority and the girls are EVEN EASIER to convince than the guys, I showed all the girls the 'athletic red' and than showed them pictures of the Cadillac ATS. I asked them 'do you want to spend 37,000 dollars on a cool athletic red Acura TLX that screams slickness and beauty' OR do you want to drive your grandma's Cadillac? I also told the girls that Cadillacs are not reliable and I showed them a lot of rankings to prove it. Acura always rank ahead.
Acura haters are going to be crying into their pillows when the TLX completely dominates every car within the 35k-44k Bracket. Soon every car within that bracket is going to have to either go BELOW it or ABOVE it to survive.

^ I wonder how disappointed he will be when he sees the actual production vehicle doesnt match the looks of the concept vehicle he loves. That and when Acura doesnt offer the car in his Athletic Red

Hey let the kid dream. When he gets out of school he will have to face the reality of real life. One thing he has right it should outsell the 420 that the RLX did last month.
Hopefully also the 1157 that the ILX did, kick in the 893 by TSX & the TLX only needs 2500 sales to be the combined sales leader for Acura sedans. It should do that easily.
Out selling other cars in its price range might prove to be a bit more of a daunting task.

Anyways, we'll see in 4 months time. Worst come to worst..
WORST COME TO WORST.
I'll just get an athletic red RDX if the TLX totally flops.
But I highly doubt that, I'm 99% sure Acura will deliver.

No, I believe in Acura sticking to this particular model. They know it's make or break time for them. And for sure they will offer Athletic Red. I MEAN THAT'S THE FREAKING HEAD LINER COLOR. Haha.

I think it could be as much as 4 grand more than that for an SH-AWD Advance.
That's just a guess, though. I think the "middle" ground might be higher now than what you are thinking.

But...that's just what one person thinks.
I think the nose portrayed in the new video ad is correct.

Our dealer has a number of RLX cars backed up at $55,584 MSRP which are being discounted to below $47K & one with a $49,300 MSRP @ $43K . Can't see the logic for the TLX up there if the RLX can't sell at that price.

I agree....especially that we are expecting 55k in Canada (and the top TL is ~50k now) so that is a 5K increase from the TL to the TLX
