About to pull the trigger - '18 TLX A-spec FWD CPO
This TLX is Certified Pre-Owned with 8300 miles on it. The dealership Finance Manager ordered it, leased it for three months, then his wife said she hates the color (blue), so he turned it in.
It's $39.5K out the door (price is $36,682 before TTF). I can add a Lifetime bumper to bumper for another $2100.
Good deal, or nah?

That would depend on current incentives for a new one. The extended CPO warranty is nice though, but I would still check that car out with a fine toothed comb for accident damage, etc. This car could also have been a service loaner, test drive car, or anything along those lines.
I trust dealers as far as i can throw them.

Seems decent - you are about 16% under list in the US. However, 8300 miles is a lot for 3 months, so as mentioned above, make sure it wasn't used as a loaner or test drive. If it was, I would want a little bigger discount. I hope the story about the wife hating the blue is true. WHO doesn't like that colour??

I always get weary when it comes to buying used cars that are returned so fast. I mean do you really think his wife hated the color? Then why did he get it in the first place? I doubt the veracity of the story. You could be buying a POS lemon which someone could not wait to get out of and thus took a bath on returning it asap.

it's still 40 fuckin grand...walk.
you can get discounts to get you pretty close and have peace of mind of buying new.
i love the blue...
i'm sure ole boy checked with his wife before buying the car...not like she developed such a strong hate for it it that it eventually broke the camel's back.
and if he didn't check with her before buying it he wouldn't be the type of guy to dump the car if the color was one he liked and his wife didn't.
simple psychology tells me he's a liar.

And he's a "Finance Manager". How much truth he's telling a day at work? I would walk as well. Another reason is the Acura CPO program is not like others (extended to 6 years/100K miles) and actually limited. So the CPO value while good, it's doesn't provide any huge value to the purchase price.
Bottom line, buy new and add Acuracare if you want.

Pretty common sales pitch because if they say it was a loaner car it will be hard to sell. When I was looking at some cars, I came across a 2015 Honda Accord Sport with 7,000 miles and some change. Sales person told me the employee traded it in for a 2017. I then asked if I could talk to him so I can get information on the car. Sales Person studdard and said he was off. I walked out.
