Slave Cylinder?

Has anyone in the area with a 6mt TL done the slave cylinder check valve mod?!
ive been experiencing some annoying clutch slippage and i was wondering if someone with the mod can take me for a drive so i can see the difference for myself, or can even help me with the mod. thanks in advance!

I think Locooman did it to his car off hand.
I will be doing it pretty soon when I swap my clutch line to SS.

I very highly doubt that removing the check valve will stop your clutch from slipping … if ur clutch is slipping u most likely need to replace it. Removing the check valve will only make ur clutch engage faster as it eliminates the delay. (as far as I know)

totally understandable but this could be a much cheaper alternative than switching my clutch, especially considering my car only has 146, xxx km. and who knows, this might fix the problem.

yep i have this mod done, almost 2 years now and yes it will reduce clutch slippage. The point of the valve is to actually ride the clutch a lil bit for those old folks who want comfort and smoothness nstead of instantaneous clutch engagement. This is one of the most bang for the buck mods you can do to our cars, i could never go back now. If you do this along with the short throw shifter and shifter bushings you will be blown away!!!!

the mod itself is super easy to do, there is a write up somewhere in the forum with pics, or you could always call me if you are a lil unsure.

hope this helps and answers your questions.

maybe a stupid question but when you do this mod do you lose clutch fluid and need to top it off? I was thinking of doing this and putting in a stainless clutch line.

Dont worry, its mot a stupid question. Yes you will lose some fluid so u will have to top it back up and get the air out of the line, this is a great time to switch over to an SS line. But IMHO, i cant tell a difference with an SS line, te big difference comes from the valve mod and Short shifter, the shifter bushing mod is a nice and easy supporting mod that is well worth it and very easy and quick to install.

so even just doing the slave cylinder i would lose fluid? I don't think the DIY here talks about adding more fluid and bleeding the line.

adding more fluids and bleeding the lines is common sense after taking the slave cylinder of the car to remove to check valve...

yes joe is right, you are opening the line therefore letting fluid out and air in. you have to take the cylinder right out and work on it so you have to add fluid and bleed before you drive.

I did my check valve removal and put in gm synchromesh friction modified at the same time and i felt an immediate diffference. Shifts were smooth and easy and i was not slipping during quick shifts at high rpm
