I have an 06 TSX 6MT. I ordered new a-spec struts (shocks & springs & tophats, etc) from curryacura.com last fall, although I found two other US acura deals which also have web businesses which ship to Canada; Curry is in NY, the closest to Toronto. They handled all the paperwork and taxes, and shipping, and I had the parts 4 days after ordering them. I saved $1,000 on the parts by ordering from the US. Duty for that class of automoble part is 6%, but no Canadian taxes!

I should also have ordered new endlinks from Curry, but I didn't know at the time, so I paid about $150 more from new endlinks from Acura of North Toronto (I like talking to Carlos in the shop, or Sam on the service advisor desk), than if I'd bought them with the struts.

Acura wanted $300 plus tax for the install, and you'll still need an alignment.

I got a quote from Whitehead Performance, in north Toronto, for $400 plus tax, and I'd still need an alignment. I've dealt with them off and on for years, formerly known as Sanroc.

I also needed new shocks for a Mazda, so I watched a bunch of youtube videos, including "How NOT to change the struts on your Mazda", bought some more tools, and did the install myself, on both cars. It took hours, including wasting hours getting off the old endlinks [the Mazda dealer says they don't bother trying to unbolt them, they just cut them off - so you need new ones; buy a few allen keys and a nut splitter to go with your grinder & dremel].

I found great how-to information on acurazine.com, and on that other Toronto Acura chatroom. I learned a lot, and enjoyed working working it though with my 14 yr old son, and realize that brakes will be easy.

thanks a lot for the input. i got mines off ebay.. it shaved 100$ of what curry was asking.. but hindsight i shouldve just ordered from curry's and pay the extra bit to have it shipped here and have it installed here rather than installing it state side. ah well.. c'est la vie.

Yeah, the springs will give you a subtle drop, but without the A-Spec shock and spring combo, you won't get the proper dampening and handling.

How cheap are these springs?
I would just shell out the money and get H&R sport springs if you're looking for a drop - the A-Spec drop isn't worth it (but the A-Spec combo IS worth it! Which is why I bought mine).

Let me know how you like the suspension I might have to get them for my RL. Also what part of Ontario are you from? I didn't think anyone else had an RL here .

Also Kevin has from the site works at Honda and does a lot of this type of work. Send him a text and see what his quote is. I have used him before and like the work especially since it is done at the dealership. Link to his thread.

I have no regrets with the a-spec drop, you would definitely enjoy the good looks and tight handling it offers.

I am located in Toronto, I do see a lot more Acura RL's these days on the road (once a week) in comparison to like once a month a year ago.

Yeah I think I will, I like the way the RL handels as it is so I can only imagine what it must be like tighter. Does it drop the car as well? You say I will enjoy the looks just wondering.

I've thought about putting in a tien suspension but I never like putting on non-OEM things onto my cars.

I barely see any, maybe once a month and that is being liberal. Someone has one in my area but I rarely see them, might just be visiting someone in the area.

We should get an RL meet together, all the meets are TL's and TSX's. Sadly we might be the only two there, we can just crash a TL meet.

The A-spec suspension will drop your car more or less than an inch. Inbetween of stock and Tien.

There is actually a few posters on here that own RL's in around the city as well.

The price you pay to get new, proper shocks, with the springs... I suggest getting coilovers.
