Yeah, that's why she keeps the ring, just switching out the rock.

I realized the error in my original logic as typed the first post

Not encouraging the guys to buy expensive gifts for their women. A lot of women, in fact, appreciate simple but meaningful gifts like handmade cards, a flower from the garden, sweet gestures, etc... anything that makes them feel appreciated.

In this case, some guys here bought expensive engagement rings with the thought that this is one way to express their commitment to their significant others. What counts in the end is the effort and not the actual gift.

Has anyone ever bought for or received car mods as a gift to/from their significant other?

Laptop.

You could say my house...she wanted it more than I...but that probably doesn't count.

Scottie bought my clear side markers when I bought my car, and I gave him a set of Yokohama Parada tires once.

The most expensive thing I think I ever got him (not counting the plane tickets we've bought for each other over the years) was the Franklin Mint pewter model of the HD V-Rod, I got him for his birthday a few years ago. I think it was like $250, which doesn't sound like a lot except that we have spent most of our relationship completely broke, so it was definitely a splurge.

The most expensive thing he ever got me was, obviously, the engagement ring. I don't know how much it cost but I DID tell him he could get me a CZ for the stone, although I don't know if he did or not. I think it's dumb to spend in the tens of thousands of dollars for a tiny little piece of stone that looks exactly like a $15 piece of stone. But the setting is platinum and the side diamonds are real (it's a 3-stone ring), and if the center stone is real (and I do NOT want to know), then it's a total of 1.5 carats. Add that to the 1.5 tcw 6-stone wedding band I got from my grandma, and I've got a lot of bling on my hand!

Not that it's what matters... like you guys said above, I've only been engaged for 6 months and married for 1, so I'm still in "Staring at it" mode. I'm just glad he finally made the commitment... he could have gone to a cracker jack box for all I cared.

At least you're both into cars. Wait, that could be a problem when the joint funding for a mod becomes available, but you can only afford to do it to one of your cars! I can see it now:
"I want those headers!"
"No, you got the intake already!"
"Yeah but your car has more hp stock!"
"That's not fair!"

I bought my wife a purse for $1000, but she sold it to some guy name Mench, Manch, or whatever, for like $1200. We took the money and bought steaks from Omaha Steaks. I know the steaks were good, but I wonder how Munch made out?

I know a guy who's wife is a total trophy wife. She gets all sorts of stuff like Escalade, party this, trip that, etc. She's a dumb c*&t and the worst princess I've ever met. I'm hoping to meet a girl who likes receiving cooking utensils.... j/k

No way! He deserves it. There is no way I would let that much talent go to waste. No matter who it is and their relation to me.
