Definately your call, if the real father doesn't want anything to do with the child and you feel comfortable being there and are able to handle it, go for it. Just remember, it isn't something you can give back and you do have to commit the rest of your life to being a parent.

Also make sure this is what she wants, maybe she doesn't because the child will grow up thinking you're the father and then the real father comes along in a few years and confuses the kid and the mother.

I agree, this is vital. IF the chick knew that you weren't the dad but "failed to mention it" then , punch her in the head, and leave. If she "just found out" then you have to make that call. Why would you be a dad to a baby that's not yours? I would expect the dad to pay child support.

Question though, would you test your girlfriend if you 2 are not married and the kid doesn't exactly look like you? I asked my girlfriend that because most of my family is light skinned (granpa is white) and I just happen to be dark skinned so potentially I could have a light skinned child even if I am with a dark skinned woman. I told her if the kid was light I would make her get a test and she said she would never forgive me. So if the kid don't look like you...do you test it or just hope for the best?

If she was aware you were not the baby's father then I would leave - that's a huge deception that only fuels more issues later.

 

She is scamming you. She probably picked you because you have $ and the other guy she nailed is a loser.

 

It all depends on the situation you are in. If you love the girl (even thought she was doing someone else) then you have a decision to make about the baby. If you don't care for her , them NO don't do it, it WILL NOT work.

As far as getting the real Dad to pay, good luck! You will need a paternity test, several trips to court, lawyers fees (over and over whenever he doesn't pay)
