The two are unrelated but usually associated with each other. What make us act like that is the fact that she's continuing like nothings wrong. When you have a problem like that, you should stop certain things (especially promiscuous sex) and get the problem taken care of.

On a (slightly) more serious note, nothing really wrong with having some funk - it happens from time to time. What is a bit of a red flag is that she wanted to have sex with the funk in full effect. i'm not sure how she can notice the funk and not want to take care of it - and i know you ladies know when you stink. I had typed up a decent explanation as to why all of this might point towards her being a slut but i'm tired what i'm thinking in my head wasn't anywhere close to what i wrote.
