Anyone ever have a vasectomy?

If yes, did you store your sperm in a sperm bank? Or did you do it after having a couple kids?

I've been thinking about getting a vasectomy (as soon as I get a new job LOL) and storing my seed in a sperm bank for the future. I don't want any surprises.

I want kids some time in the future but I want to have them when I want to have them. Since the courts don't give a man "the right to choose" then I'll take proactive steps to make sure I have a say.

Anyone know the cost of these things?

 

I had a vasectomy done.

I gotta go do some of the shit that is beneficial about having one, like fuck without fear, but when I get over there and get my eat on (food mofos), I will log on from there and respond to this with more depth.

But just in case I get hit by a truck - GO FOR IT!!! I didn't save shit (sperm)! The whole idea is to not procreate, just imitate the art playboy! BRB!

 

Wearing a hat or pulling out always seemed to work for me. No need to have your nut sack sliced before having kids.

Just curious here, but I'm wondering about how you see the conversation playing out should you ever meet a woman who pleasantly surprises you enough that you want to make babies with her. Hey baby, I love you, let me get the turkey baster?

How old are you? I think that being responsible is a good form of birth control. I know that no form of birth control is 100% effective. But wearing a condom with a spermacide is a good way to go.

You know how expensive artificial insemination is whne you decide to have kids? Not that having a kid is cheap.

Also, are you considering the STD's out there? When you stop having to worry about the kid factor, you tend not to consider all the issues.

I can't tell you what to do or what is right. I have always considered what would happen if I knocked someone up. I decided that I would do the responsible thing.

Consider everything. Don't just think about how nice it would be to just have sex and not worry about kids.

Reason being is that you won't have to put your little soldiers in a bank... you would be more responsible in taking care of yourself instead of not worrying about the helmet and getting STD's as Ravi pointed out... then the cash you would be wasting for your future spouse to be inseminated or the couple thousands you'll have to be to reverse your vasectomy...

I'd do it after me and my girl know we won't be having any more kids so that we can freely enjoy ourselves together without the worry...

Trying to get rid of the worry before hand sounds cool and fun but that is all it'll always be... Cool and fun for the short term... with wndrlst that once you are with the girl you want to be with wants to conceive the normal way you won't be able... you'll have to go back and pay more cash to reverse... and your little guys in the bank are just going to sit there...

any woman that's with me should understand that i've decided to take precautions. i'm supposing i have a future here worth protecting. besides, i'd really rather not have to be in a position where my gf or whomever has to get an abortion. i don't like abortions. i really, really don't like abortions.

so, whether or not it'd take some of the romance away from having a baby... maybe, but given the potential consequences of getting a girl i don't want pregnant over the loss of a bit of romance, i'll take the loss of romance.

But it's more of an insurance policy to me than anything. I fear having a child under circumstances that aren't ideal. That fear is enough for me...

There has been more than one instance of a girl I'm having sex with begging me to take off the condom and ejaculate inside of her. Granted, I stopped talking to them after that because it freaked me out, but what if she was just a bit more clever?

Ok…vasectomy (NIV: Non Invasive Vasectomy)…or rather, let me tell you about my vasec-journey…

First, you make an appointment to go get screened. They have to evaluate if you are a good candidate or not. This consists of asking you questions about having kids, and examining your testicles to see if they are ok for the procedure. If everything is ok, then they have you come back for the actual thing. Doc asked me to drop them (pants of course) so he could examine me. He was like, oh yeah, these are some good ones, you should have no problem. Now, having been in the military at least, I was used to having a doc grab my nuts and say cough. But dude was a little bit more enthused than them. Hahahahaha! Things a brother gotta do to be a wrecking machine without fear!

Procedure time. I will give you a website to go check out for details, but here are the basics of what happened that day.

1) Nurse takes me to the back and asks me to drop everything from the shirt down and sport the gown (front open though).

2) I lay back with the gown open and a towel draped over me.

3) Doc comes in with the same sexy nurse, and asks if I’m ready. I ask questions like will it hurt, how long before sex again, etc. He says I can have sex tomorrow, it won’t hurt but for a few days, and that the procedure takes less than 12 minutes. (that motherfucker crazy!!)

4) After that he says ok, snatches off the towel with the sexy nurse right there, and I didn’t get hard because the thought of something sharp going down there is just not a mood setter dawg! Hahaha!

5) I was numbed (of course as I waited, I was exposed to the nurse and whoever came in to see the scene). Hahahaha!

6) He went to work and the whole thing took 9 or 10 minutes. I was like wow!

7) YOUR SHIT IS GOING TO BE SORE FOR A MINUTE DAWGGGG!!!! (Plan to take off work for a few days at least...everybody is different. I think what took me so long is I didn't use ice at first and didn't rest like I should. Big mistake!!!)

8) Hurry up and get your ass home, better yet, make sure someone drives you there and back because you will know why later if you don’t!! LOL!

The website can give you the rest…but dat about it! It took me two weeks to recover fully and NO - I didn’t want anyone near my nuts while I was doing it either!

Oh yeah...costs:

Vasectomies can range anywhere between $500+ and $1200 reasonably. The doc I went to charged $250 for the screening, and $710 for the surgery. He had done many prior with the new method (non-scapel or NIV) so I went with him.

My health plan would've covered the whole thing except about $30, but I had dough in my FSA that I over-estimated and needed to use so I paid for it out of pocket and got reimbursed, or so to speak.

Reversals I think cost around $5000 - $7500, depending on what all it entails and the doctor. Artificial insemination is roughly $7500 to 10,000!!

Act like you know...unless you a baller!!

I can know alot about you, except you don't tell me that you have herpes (because you selfishly think you can have a normal relationship) until after we go bareback one time and you realize that you had no clue of your present outbreak until it was too late. So "knowing" someone is both noble and romantic, but it is still relative to the experience.

I think the only rule that needs to be followed by adults having sex is to use contraceptives and be prepared to take care of and love a kid, should the experience begat one. Other than that, if I meet someone in a bar, they turn me on, we go back to my place and laugh, listen to nostalgic music, and turn up the heat - who is to say that was less moral than waiting 6 months to find out if she has an aunt in Florida and timeshare? Can I please have the manual to see what page that is on? We all have our own belief systems, so go with what makes you happy I say. Just be prepared as an adult to roll with the consequences...

Having said that...At 25 I definitely would not recommend a vasec, because you never know if you will change your mind about having kids later. Now, Amis has indicated that he wants to have kids later, so Amis hear this: if you tell a doctor that, you will not get one - plain and simple playboy! A vasectomy is a regrettable solution, albeit not a permanent one.

I guess you just have to get them to sign a "pre-fuck" my dude!

 

I'm going to agree with SS on this one. In fact, I didn't do many risky things with a women I was not willing to have a child with (should all the precautions fail...). I don't regret that decision at all. Never. Not once. In the 20 years I've been with my wife, I never once wished I had slept with "that girl back then".

You're putting a LOT of stress on yourself at a relatively young age just to have worry-free causal sex. So getting surgery, cutting off your means of having a child with someone you may fall in love with (without having to go to a clinic), entertaining the possiblity of a reversal one day, not to mention the cost - all this so you can sleep around which, by the way, still exposes you to a bunch of diseases that a vasectomy does nothing to protect? So, did I get that right? This is the desired state you are working so hard to achieve? That's placing a pretty high premium on having sex. Honestly, this is THAT important to you?

Not trying to preach to you here (but it would seem I'm going to just a bit - so apologies in advance...), but take a step back and look at the whole picture - your life, your priorities, and where you want to be in the next 10 years. The biggest mistake young people make is they make decisions that have consequences they are not wise enough to apprecaite in the moment.

So here's the hard question that will probably offend many here (sorry, but it's worth asking). So is the type woman you may hope to meet, fall in love, marry and have children with going to be the type of woman who would be attracted to a guy who had a vasectomy for the single purpose of having years of unrestricted, consequence free, recreational sex? Said another way, is the kind of woman you hope to meet one day going to be attracted to the kind of man you are setting youself up to become? Or more importantly, is the kind of woman that would be attracted to a guy like that going to be the kind of woman you hope to be the mother of your children?

It is unlikely you'll attract a woman who has qualities that you do not posess yourself. Worth thinking about before you go under the knife.

Well, a less dramatic, less expensive, non-medical approach to achieve this same goal is to use more discretion before you jump in the sack with someone. In simple terms, if you don't want to risk an unplanned pregnancy with her, don't sleep with her. If you choose to ignore the risk, then be prepared to accept the possible consequences. So no, that doesn't need to mean abstinence, just responsible choices.

And by "caring" about who he sleeps with, I didn't necessarily mean that he should like or love who he sleeps with.....that's a personal choice. I meant "care" as in use discretion, as she might end up being his baby's mama.

I'm a young stud. There's no other way to guarantee that at the end of the day I'll get what I want other than with a vasectomy. That is being responsible whether or not you like it. If you don't won't babies, keep your dick in your pants. If you still want to have sex just make sure that YOU control the form of BC that is used. Keep condoms with you. Didn't catch your age, but cutting the boys to eff up the plumping for a few years a little out there. But to each their own.

I had Vasectomy last June, I'm also 42 and have a son. After about two days of swelling and keeping frozen peas on it, no problems. And now the berries hand lower, trip over them sometimes when wearing shorts.

I did ask the Dr. about reserving, he said is a pain in the ass.
