Valentines Day!

Nothing! I hate hate HATE Valentine's Day!
I celebrate the day after Valentine's Day, when chocolate goes on sale!
Here's a little story about why I hate that day.
When I was younger, in junior high and especially in high school, I was single the ENTIRE DAMN TIME! I would always look at the happy couples making out and sending each other stuff. You know those Valentine candy cinnamon hearts? It was always those, and it was school sponsored. They were only 25 cents. I used to get a few from girls, but that didn't help. I'd sit there by myself while everyone read their cards and wished it would just be over. I wondered why everyone else could have that, and why couldn't I? I waited every year to get one from a boy but it never happened.
In high school (it starts in grade 10 here), they had these Love Match things. It was a score sheet that you answered questions and the computer spit out a bunch of names of the opposite sex who you'd be most compatible with. As I read the names of the girls on my sheet, I realized that it might as well have been blank. Every year after I got it back, I'd crumple it up and toss it in the recycling, and sit by myself in the hallway while everyone else found people whose names were on their sheet. And guess who came to hit on me? The ugliest chicks. For me that just added insult to injury.
Even in grade 12, when everyone knew about me, things were bad. I actually got the guts to send some of the cinnamon candies to the only other out guy in the school (he was in grade 10, so two years younger than me, and I felt ridiculous doing it). He came up to me and told me I could have them back because I was friends with the jocks (I played rugby, how could I not be?). And out of all the boyfriends I've had, only one lasted a year so that we made it to Valentine's Day, and it wasn't even that special because he spent most of the day with his other friends pretending to be straight. F*CK V-DAY.
So, that's why Valentine's Day sucks for me.

what a crock o' crap day that is. I dislike hallmark holidays. Why do you need one day to tell the person you love, " i love you "? And why one day to buy them gifts that are sweet and everything? last year my girl and i went to dinner, and the waitress said " happy valentine's day!". We just looked at her, then at each other, and went "it's valentine's day? meh."
It's another commercialized day to spend money on worthless shit. You buy roses and the girl goes "awwwww"...but the roses end up dying. The chocolates she eats is what she blames you for 2 months down the line when she gains weight. My gf and I (of close to 4 yrs) agree that roses and dumb shit like that is a waste of money. A nice dinner and some nice sex does the trick.
the last 2 valentines days ive had a gf.. so this year its going to be different. Buying yourself "F Valentines day" perks sounds like a good idea. My friend wants to have a "F Valentines Day" party for all of us singles.. glad i wasted my time and money when i was in high school so i can realize how lame it is now
I want to keep it under $300. So a nice little gift, a rose and dinner should do the trick.
btw. I used to hate Vday big time, but I think I'm starting to understand why its a good thing that we have a Vday (at least for people in relationships). I see alot of people who have been in relationships for a long time start to not make time for romantic outings with their loved one. Maybe its because they feel they've lost the honey moon days or they're too busy with work and kids, but this day gives them no reason not to go out with just your loved one for a romantic evening. I think its good for a couple, especially married couple who seem like most don't feel like they need to go out on romantic evenings anymore. Just my

Three years ago I got a reckless driving ticket for Valentines Day from the rent-a-cop
Probably just have him treat me to a nice dinner. We celebrate Steak and BJ day so I dont feel bad about not getting him anything for Valentines Day.

Flowers and some candy and spending the day with me (we only get to see each other maybe once a week due to my work schedule).

Flowers and dinner at a nice place are par for the course...
Usually i convince her to go out on a different night...so, I dont get raped at the restuarants with their Fixed Menus for $50-100/person.
