Thinking of Tiffany

ok guys, i suck at gifts so i need all your advice. it's this girl's bday coming up and we've been goin out for about 4 months. she likes jewelry and all these random "accessories."

anyone got any good suggestions from tiffany? i was thinking a heart pendant necklace, although she ALWAYS wears this particular necklace so I don't think she would ever change it. I'm lost on bracelets.......any suggestions? and do you think a tiffany keychain would be too simple to give?

They have some nice stuff, it is overpriced, but girls do go insane over it. Be sure you know the girl you are giving it to will take care of it AND wear it, otherwise its wasted money

a few months, and Tiffany? Damn, either she's got you buy the balls, or you don't mind dropping money

I mean, hell, if that's what your going for, cool. But that seems a little over the top for a birthday of some woman you've dated for only a few months.

yeah i know what you're saying and i agree. but things are kinda moving pretty fast too.....our parents have already met also. and so far i haven't done any of the little stuff either, like flowers and chocolates, etc etc.

so i was just thinking about a charm bracelet or a chain in the 100-200 range.

Getting her jewelry and other random "accessories" will only serve to reinforce that these are appropriate gifts ... so it only feeds the materialistic attitude that women are bombarded by on a daily basis (and some gals take it as far as to equate intensity of love or quality of relationship = $$$ spent, which is wrong).

Why not shoot to give her an "experience" or "memory" rather than a mindless object? Most gals I know do get moist for the Tiffany box (puke) but they also get nice and leaky when receiving something that is heartfelt, with effort involved. I dunno. Be creative.

And if you get her jewelry on the first b-day, what will she expect/assume next time around?

Don't do it ... Once you set a precedent ... no looking back. Unless you roll in a NSX or a RL (only Acuras worth > $50k stock) ... I wouldn't drop $100-$200 on a gift for someone you've dated for 4 months. You know why? You can buy a platinum wedding band for a $500 there ... (that's what I did) ...

(unless she can suck a golf ball through a hose ... then different story)

I agree.

I also went into Tiffany looking for a necklace I saw on their website. The quality is not good at all. It's 200 bucks for friggin silver and it looks cheap. I'd rather go to a local jewelry store and get a cute white gold ring for less.

You can find a lot of nice things that aren't ridiculously expensive at Tiffany's. Most girls love it...go for it.

You should be happy it's only Tiffany's, wait til she gets into shit like Yurman....$$$

I've never looked at anything in tiffany's before.......or any jewerly store for that matter

And you are setting yourself up, son. Buying Tiffanys after only 4 months is a tad ridiculous. But to each their own.

I hate to say this Taxi-Driver but unless you really do love this girl, 4 months isn't really that long and spending $200 is alot of money. I say this because if you plan to keep this relationship a long term, you're setting a precedent and down the road, you are only going to spend more, not less. By that I mean more of Tiffany's & Co more possibly something more expensive.

For example, I got the wifey an Engagement Ring from Tiffany&Co. I promised her I would upgrade it a few years down the road and yesterday was "the few years down the road." The original .76ca is now a 2.0 ca ring with square cut channel setting platinum band on the side. The whole thing cost about $69,000 but that's because I'm married to her.
Becareful of what you're getting yourself into, Tiffany's & Co is every girl's dream.

I got my gf some tiffany's earrings on our 1 yr anniversary. Just some dinky silver heart earrings which was close to $300. Its been her favorite gift, partly because its tiffanys, but moreso for their meaning.

At 4 months and valentines day, i got her a necklace from kay. It was ~$60 and she thinks it cost $150-$200. She wears the necklace way more often than the earrings.

The point is, at 4 months, tiffany's is a bit extravagent. Both from a price point and any possible meaning. I'd say not to do it.

Who knows, she might want to end it soon, but wont if she thinks she's gonna recieve more tiffany's and/or better. You're setting yourself up to be used in that case.

IMO, a good birthday present would be to take her out on the town she'll always remember. Nice dinner, creative date, and a small gift.

Save jewlery for valentines day or anniversaries imo.

Silver is so cheap (cost-wise, as a metal)! It amazes me that people would be willing to spend that much on ANY piece of silver-only jewellery!

I don't see the big deal with spoiling your girl with a little Tiffany's. Don't get her anything from the Return To Tiffany's collection though. Too popular. I have an "m" neclace from the Paloma Picasso collection, I think, and I absolutely love it. Wear it every day. It wasn't that expensive and carries lots of sentimental value, which is what really matters. Good luck shopping!

Oh and the Return To keychain is cute, but the ball falls off and you lose the tag. Don't get it.

You want to make up your mind on how much you spend on rings, dude...?

In this thread (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...3&page=1&pp=25), you said:

My wifey doesn't even wear her ring at all and I spent over $8000 on her back in the day.
If I were to buy a ring, my 2 months of salary would make her have a good 4C over 5carat big. No fucking way I'd get any woman on this planet that kinda ring. It's a true waste of money.
So, then you say you spent $69K on a promised-later ring...?
And here's the next thing I'm confused about, at around your stated spending amount of $69,000, at most places and Tiffany's included, you can score a nearly 3 or more carat ring in the color D-F range and be IF or VVS1--which are near perfect.

So, you either got severely ripped off by whoever sold you that $69K Tiffany ring, or your boasting of your networth is a bit skewed and needs to be deflated somewhat...?

And P.S. Of course, diamonds are not on some linear price scheme on size. But as a reference, for the 1.18 VVS1 F Novo ring (with platinum which comes standard anyways on all Tiffany rings) I got, I paid $21,800USD.

oh man... you had to remember me again!

my girlfriend lost her tiffany's bracelet this past sunday. She only had the thing for two weeks at most! I got it for her on our two year anniversary, it was 200 and some change... came right off and she didnt even notice it. She called me almost in tears but I was at work, I called her back when I got out and I almost cried too when I found out,

whats funny is that we were just talking about that scenario two days before.. and what do you know... it happened.

Naw...I'm not trying to hate on BoostedJack. Just pointing out something that didn't make any sense to me...

And I'm the last person to question someone's actual worth or wealth online since this is the Internet and so, I'm apt to give the benefit of the doubt. I do believe the guy to be as wealthy as he claims. And certainly, he's a confident guy...BUT, that doesn't mean I can't point out a flaw in his claims or slightly slap him in the britches if it needs be.

WTF is wrong with you. My point is Tiffany's & Co productions are very expensive and one shouldn't get such expensive item when he only knows her for 4 months. I suggested he shouldn't set a precedent because it'll cost more down the road since he'll have to live up to it. I said that only because I set a precedent and I'm paying for it now.

So with tax, resize and other shit, roughly around $9000. Online at times I don't want to give the exact dollar amount.

You want me to take a picture of the god damn ring? You want to fly over here and take a look at her ring? The initial ring I got her wasn't cheap. But for the price of Tiffany, the ring was hardly any decent size, <.60 carat. The ring was basically tiny so I promise her I'd get her a bigger ring down the road. I wasn't about to spend anything over $10k initially based on the fact there's wedding, honeymoon, and all the other shit.
Now, there are things I'd like to keep private, but since you're so eager to know, I'll tell ya. The Tiffany ring she had was a traditional solitaire with a plain platinum band. Nothing fancy or fantasic. She loved it was Tiffany but didn't really like the ring, hence never really wore it. The upgrade was a completely different band, size and style. It has a round cut of 2 carat with diamond all around the band. Visit any Tiffany shop and you'll see what I mean. I also got her a matching band set so everything came out around that price.
Next time, I'll just say I upgraded her ring to a bigger one and leave it at that.

Believe me, I thought for a long while before I went ahead and got her the upgrade. I know how much it would cost and didn't really want to do it. But I've been with this woman for 8 years, I think of it as an investment and I do owe it to her. I wouldn't spend this kinda money on any woman on the planet, well my mom.

if you spent $69,000 on her upgraded ring, you are definitely balling.
