what kind of terms of endearment do you guys prefer, and which ones do you consider annoying?

the last relationship i was in, they were... abused (on both our parts), to say the least. so.. in attempt not to scare away my next prospect, what's the limit?

Depends on the situation but I guess as long as the two people dont forget each other's real name its okay. I used to call my X babe even when I was talking about him with my friends and it got to the point where they forgot his real name and started calling him babe also. I call my men by their given name now, but sometimes slip in a term of endearment for good measure

 

honey/swetie is ok---on occasion---but keep it to a min around company

yea its gotten out of control with my current gf (of 1.5 years) we rarely use real names, and sometimes i have to catch myself when im talking about her to other people.

 

when were around just eachother, ill call him honey, he calls me baby.. but we dont do it in like sickingly cute tones or anything.

in fact sometimes i call him honey while yelling at him.


its fairly easy for him to tell what mood im in though.. if im really happy or what not i call him joey.. if im in a normal mood, i call him joe.. if hes pissed me off, the joseph comes out.

Sometimes I used to call her honey but since she named our dog that, I just call her by her name. I really prefer to be called by my name or sometimes sweetie, but 'baby' is out of the question. I'm alright with calling her babe ever once in a while.

With my 2nd ex I usually called her baby every once in a while, mostly when on the phone. Or if I was asking her to get me something. When I was younger me and my first ex had some pretty sickening names for each other, but it was puppy love and we were both into it waaaaay too much.

with the ex it was a kinda rare "baby" from both sides. like when we're alone or talkin on the phone or whatever. as long as its not bein used all the time especially in public its acceptable
