I go on occasion but like someone else mentioned it's more fun with a good group of friends. I never plan on going solo and actually prefer to go with a couple of people as opposed to one other person.

I am married and I tell my wife sometimes. She doesn't like it so I haven't been going much, just the occasional BP. I also know how much of a waste it is and now that I am older have much more important things to waste my money on.

the "degrading to women" comment is a tough one because you have to remember, they have a choice. I agreed with a friend of mine that it adds to the way men view women but I also made the argument that most men who disrespect women would do so anyway. I went/occasional still go to sclubs but I am educated enough to distinguish between the hoes there (and not all are hoes) and my peers in the office.

I do enjoy going on occasion though.

Yeah i don't necessarily agree the whole "degrading to women" thing. In their mind, they are probably degrading men. They probably get this sense of power walking around there knowing that 99% of the guys there would pay them anything to get close to them. IMO they in no way feel degraded or beneath the men, if anything superior to them in that atmosphere.

I'm kind of surprised at how many of the men on here were so opposed to strip clubs.

I see them as just a form of entertainment, just like watching a movie or a show. I watch them dance and that's about it - lap dances is crossing the line IMHO.

That said, I rarely go these days and the gf doesn't really approve of them. A bunch of friends and I went for a BP and the gf basically just said "Just shower before you come to bed". She gets concerned that it's more than just watching the dances, which it is for many patrons, just not my thing.

BTW, Cheetas III (I think) near Atlanta had the most and hottest dancers I've ever seen

I am so confused. Screwing for money is not degrading and cheap, but dancing nude with no contact with anyone is disgusting???

Oh yeah and I disagree stripping is degrading to women. Most of them are usually there because they want to be there. The only time it gets degrading is if guys start throwing loonies at them.

Depends on the stripper: Some exceprts on a study of strippers, containing selected quotes.

http://www.uri.edu/artsci/wms/hughes/stripc3.htm

PART 3: WOMEN’S THOUGHTS ON STRIPPING

Money

Women in stripping are overwhelmingly motivated by the promise of wealth or a will to survive (Skipper and McCaghy 1970; Ronai 1992; Thompson and Harred 1992). Stripclub owners, managers, pimps and the media portray stripping as a glamorous way to earn big money fast and use this strategy to lure young women into stripping. Women in this study report the best part of stripping to be the money.
Skills

Women in stripping feel it doesn’t take much skill to be a stripper (Forsyth and Deshotels 1997; Skipper and McCaghy 1970). "It would be nice to say women need dance talent but it’s not true." Men

The women in this study condemn the men associated with stripping and the impact stripping has on them as the worst parts of stripping. Women do not like the way customers treat them (Thompson and Harred 1992). Furthermore they say they do not like talking to customers, asking men for money, and resent having to have to deal with them at all. They find customers irritating because they are drunk and have negative attitudes towards women. Women characterize customers as scum, psycho mama’s boys, rapists and child molesters, old perverted men, idiots, assholes, and pigs. Strippers are largely disgusted by customers and describe them as pitiful and pathetic, stupid and ignorant, sick, controlling and abusive. "They smell so sour, they breathe very heavy and kind of wheeze when women are near." "They are weak abusers who have to subordinate women and girls to feel like a man." "I see my dad. They’re old enough to be my father." "Yuck. I am repulsed by the sight, sound, smell, and touch of them." "I’m embarrassed for them." The women offer insightful evaluations of stripclub customers. They say that these men do not know how to communicate. Moreover, they perceive that customers are out of control, have power and abuse problems, and will do anything to degrade women because they hate women. Strippers also state that customers want a free show and think women are cheap. In contrast, a few women positively perceived some customers as nice and added they are thankful to those who tip well.

Women in this study undoubtedly denounce stripclub owners as pimps and "glorified pimps" and maintain that owners misuse power and are sick. The women also label managers as pimps citing that they mistreat women, that they make every attempt to take money from the women, and that they are sick because they are affiliated with the industry and know the harm they do. Strippers accuse managers of being threatened and jealous of the money women make and that women are just a dollar to management. Finally, women refer to staff music programmers, doormen, bartenders, bouncers, floorwalkers, and valet as wanna-be pimps because they always want to be tipped. The women see staff as derelicts who can’t get a job anywhere else and who think they are cool for working in a stripclub. Strippers perceive staff as creepy and disrespectful and as "looky-lous" who just want to look at naked women for free. Women criticize staff by pointing out that at least owners are making big money. Few women had positive responses, but those that did felt they got along well with staff and had no real hard feelings.

Clearly strippers’ attitudes about men are impacted by the activities in stripclubs. Women say they don’t like men and men are worthless. Likewise women believe stripping inhibits their ability to be involved in a normal relationship. "It affects your lovelife and feelings about men." "Nice boyfriends can’t handle it." "Too large a percentage of men fit into category of customer and I do not want to hate men."

Stripping

Women in this study expressed mostly negativism regarding their experiences in stripping with themes of abuse, deception, drugs, and low self-esteem. "I would never do it again. It was degrading." "No doubt that it led me to prostitution and my pimp." "Taught me how to control men and gave me a false illusion of control. Takes a long time to regain self-control." "
Some women expressed fascination with stripping. "It has been an experience of a lifetime. I’ve seen everything…some crazy shit." "I have never seen things like I have seen in stripping. It is weird." Still others felt positively about their experience.

Above all, women in stripping reject the popular image of stripping and clarify the common misperceptions about stripclubs. "That no one touches you, women enjoy it, and it’s okay for men to go there." "That women actually get to wear a costume and actually get to dance."
"That we get sexually aroused doing this."
"That men are there to have harmless fun, when they are really there to abuse women."
"That it is a big party and that the women want to be there for some reason other than money, like sex or to meet men or because they are nudists or exhibitionists."
"That you are doing things you want to be doing."
"That they are not degrading us because girls always are justifying it with college." "That it is not prostitution."
"That it is glamorous, fast money, easy work, way to get ahead."

I had an idea it was somewhat like this, but I didn't know it was that bad. It has a lot with the way society still views women. In contrast, the male strippers I've talked to (they usually come and have a beer once they're dressed and their 20 minute show is over), say that they like doing it and it's good money. I've talked to both straight and gay male strippers and the straight ones say that it's not bad at all to strip for men because they tip way more than women, but that it's easier to get a female crowd excited. I wonder if this is the same way a female stripper would feel if she was "contract stripping"? Like where you go strip in a bar, not a stripclub, several times a week in addition to your day job. Or you go from bar to bar if it's your only job.

Oh and I still think women have a choice. Just like I can choose to work hard or fvck up, they can decide to do something other than strip!

I'm not kidding. I don't have pics of the actual event because all my friends were under 18 at the time. I was still in grade 12 too, but I turned 18 in February so I was the first of my friends allowed to go to the bar. Buddy's has an amateur strip night, and a wet underwear night. I've been in both competitions. I only stopped because I started losing and everyone gets tired of the same guy doing the contest over and over. What makes you think I WOULDN'T do something like that?

It's not. I have one friend who's ex-wife is a stripper, and another who actively dates one. All in all, they are in it for the money, have a decent time when the crowds get big and rowdy. They DO have a choice in clubs they pay their money to.

I'm serious, female strippers are lazy. I don't know what it's like in your area, but here I don't see the women bringing out the fire in a metal bowl thing, or the blacklight washable paint. This one guy I saw had two dulled axes with some sort of flammable liquid on the blades and he was spinning them, one in each hand. It was pretty damn cool if you ask me

I don't want to put too fine a point on it, youngTL, but I think you would be the first to admit that you won't "get" female strippers under the best of circumstances.

As for tired, unenthusiastic male strippers, including the whole TV world, I'm sure they're out there in droves, just as bored, tired, bitter and jaundiced as the women are.

In your post about your own experience stripping, it was a one-shot (no pun intended) adventure, not a career choice. Would you sustain your enthusiasm day in/day out for three years? Go to a city where there are professional gay strippers, and make an assessment..................

I'll reiteriate my own opinion, that "stripping" is best done as a mutual activity in the privacy of one's own home...................

Why not have an entertaining AND naked show? In my experience its the cool strippers who make the most tips. Oh and I correct myself, the girl who got dragged across the stage by a neck chain by her friend made a lot too.

i go when i get dragged there. i just see it as a waste of time and loot. and sometimes the girls look like they rolled down the ugly mountain... sure i dont mind seein a set of tits, etc... but it just seems like a big tease. i also hate when they keep comin around to you, tryin to get those dollar bills.... and lap dances... big waste of time. just my opinion

I go probably about twice a year with a couple of my friends. They both go more frequently than I do, but I get dragged along a couple of times a year. I tell my fiancee' where I'm going and she knows that I really don't enjoy going to the strip club. I personally don't care for the atmosphere (hate the smoke) but my friends enjoy it and it's fun to watch them make fools of themselves and throw money around.

dude, that's because she was stripping in a gay bar, what's the point of putting on the effort for.
