'The List', or 'Guilt Free Affairs' is the idea of a list of celebrities that a person in a relationship can cheat on without any guilt. The idea being that the celebrities are so out of reach that it will never happen making the list a joke.

Do you think it is healthy and harmless fun? Do you think it can harbour feelings of dissatisfaction with your relationship?

My wife talks about her list alot... While I know she will never get with Gerard Butler, it kinda bugs me that she makes a big deal about the list...

For the record... I have no list and the closest to porn I get is the PGT so I don't think there is any double standard for me.

Just innocently leave a piece of paper for your wife to discover and include

2. Jessica Biel
3. Jessica Alba (sans herpes)
and 7 other hotties of your choosing and call it a day

 

For me, I don't like the idea of "the list". I wouldn't sleep with anyone but my wife, regardless of how "unlikely" the other person may be. I see no real point in joking about it, because it would only bother her.

I guess I always wondered what couples were really joking about if they had "lists". Do they really mean there is a scenario out there where they'd be unfaithful? Probably not for most couples. But if that's the case, why joke about it.

My wife has actors she finds attractive, and I have actresses I find attractive. Every now and again it will come up, but that's it.

I think if it bothers one or the other, it's no longer a funny joke and probably needs to stop or be dialed back.

I have said this and it didn't go over well.

I have also said that I don't maintain a list since I like to keep my options open so I can have a guilt free tryst with any hottie that comes along.

But in reality it bothers me to make a joke about it - just like 1Louder says.

I don't have a list because I can't even entertain the idea of an affair - no matter how remote.

 

I'd make up a list where names 1 - 5 are Snooki, or someone equally disgusting. If she looks at you like "wtf?" then you'll know she's putting even an ounce of seriousness into these lists, and that it's not really "just harmless fun"

 

At 41 I think you should be able to man up and discuss it with your wife.

 

At 41, these stupid arguments can turn into divorce which could also mean $500k is lost savings.

My wife has hers and i have mine, but that is as far as it goes. It will never happen and it's funny to us.

 

I don't like that crap. What is the point in joking about something like that, especially if it extremely unlikely to happen.

I can't believe people are actually making lists about stuff like this. Might be time to get out of the house and do some extra curricular activities. My S/O and I have been together almost 6 years and we are comfortable enought to talk about who we do and dont find attractive. But a mythical list of celebs you would bang is in the realm of disrepectful in my book. What happens when someone actually meets one of these celebs, will the wife or husband act on it because the list was made?

My wife and I have fun with it because its never gonna happen. However, don't make a list of her Sisters or gf's that you'd want to sleep with, then you'll have trouble.

We often look at frederick's and victoria secret catalogs together and pick stuff out, I did test her yesterday commenting on how a few of the models were really hot. Her comment "you'll never have a chance to have sex with them, so you better be happy with me" and I am, was just funny seeing how much rope I could get
