These were supposed to be the poll options.
0 - exclusively heterosexual
1 - predominantly heterosexual, incidentally homoexual
2 - predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3 - equally heterosexual and homosexual
4 - predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5 - predominantly homosexual, incidentally heterosexual
6 - exclusively homosexual
And it was supposed to be anonymous.

ummm ZERO
this is a wierd scale
I am going with Andrew Dice Clay on this one
"Either you suck dick or you don't, fags are so god damned sensitive, they don't know what they want to be called...I call them cocksuckers, I think that spells it out."

I think it is a little too simplistic. Human sexuality is more complex to me than just the hetero/homo dichotomy. For instance, just because a woman gets aroused by watching a porn featuring two women-does that necessarily mean that she is "incidentally homosexual" even though she doesn't have the desire to actually be with another woman?

j/kI don't get aroused by watching two men get it on, I actually kind of want to
. So I guess I'm exclusively heterosexual.

If you fantasize about people of your own sex, that is also part of the "incidentally homosexual" thing, unless you fantasize about them regularly, which would make someone a 5 or 6 I guess.
The essence of Kinsey's thesis was that men are arrayed along a continuum of sexual interest and gender focus, ranging, as the poll suggests, from wholly hetro to wholly gay. However, embedded in his thesis, evolved from massive surveys done in the late '40's, I believe, was the parallel notion that one might focus on where one chose to express the gender focus. That tends to get lost in the shuffle in interpreting Kinsey; he is not saying that if one fantisizes about male/male action, one is impelled to live there. Nor is he saying it is particularly unusual.
Recent studies on animal sexuality indicate that homosexuality, lesbianism and transvestism is common, even rampant in some species, and continues to drive the notion that Kinsey was beginning to drive home, that sexual appetite and procreation, however morally linked by theologic policy and interpretation in some religions, have little to do with "animal instincts".
I remember a friend of ours, who has clearly come to terms with his interest in men and now has a lifepartner, came to me one day and confessed that he was having fantasies about sex with women................ and he felt disloyal to his partner and his gender choice.(wondered whether he was a closet hetero). I did suggest that he could enjoy the occassional female body with a sexual eye without desgroying his relationship..........

Okay...just one question, how can transvestism (wearing clothes of the other gender) be common in animals?

I think the Kinsey scale is pretty accurate, on a basic level, if that makes any sense.
Obviously, there are situations where someone who considers him/herself a zero or a six may compromise. For those who are :ghey:, there may be a time, whether alcohol induced or not, you might consider fooling around with someone of the opposite sex.
For those guys who are a zero, would you consider getting a BJ from a guy? After all, as they say... lips are lips. :gheylaugh

I was wondering who would notice. The researcher defines it as adopting the body posture, and reconfiguring body hair to resemble the opposite sex in order to attract - rare, but not unique (nope, it is not some society matron cross-dressing her leashtrained terrier).......

Another interesting thing to note...assuming most people answered honestly (besides those that picked 7), is that the ratio of 6's to 1's is about 13%...of course that is a bit disproportional probably because of the people who come in the thread. From meeting people, my guess is actually about 7% or so.

I mean, there was this one time that I was incedentally in a threesome with another couple. Didn't do anything with the guy, but was not turned off by him being there.

edit...I don't actually know yet whether or not you were turned on by him being there.
I think it was the idea of the threesome that turned me on or the fact that it was his gf, more than the fact that it was another guy around instead of another girl.
I will say that I had certain thoughts run through my head, you can't help it when you're in that situation unless you just close your eyes as tight as you can and mumble to yourself while everyone is doing their thing. but I didn't act on any of those thoughts, and wasn't more turned on by those particular thoughts than I was by being in the threesome. make sense?

The labels straight/bi/gay are just too black & white. There are many shades of gray.

Joe told me that he was turned on by that - so he's probably a 1.

Yeah, i would agree. I think when any heterosexual man feels hes first tit, he is more amazed and intrigued with what it is than what to do with it. Therefore we spend more time actin like were trying to find our favorite radio station than trying to please her. It takes a time or two to grow out of it. Although Ive heard some dudes never do.

I think that is what I just said.......
