Invitation only jewelry stores?
I've heard from a few people I trust that there is a store in the bay which caters to a very select crowd, and allows purchases only through an invite from the owners (or a referral from another person with an invite). I'm leaning towards trusting that it actually exists, as I've heard the same thing completely independently from 4 different sources.
Anyone have any clue what they are talking about? I'm looking at purchasing an engagement ring in the next few months, and was curious what this is all about.
TIA
Jared

Good luck on the ring and wedding!
Invitation only =/= discounts.
In Beverly Hills, Bulgari and a number of other stores have a couple of special "invite only" days for new items, not "sales" or discount days-- they are new merchandise at standard (i.e. premium) prices.
Some stores will open at non-business hours exclusively for a customer who intends to buy $500K+ of stuff, too.
I wish I had $$.

Harry Winston has those at times for occasions...but, otherwise, anyone can waltz in.

It's invitation only because they can't put $10bazillion necklaces on display.

In advertising we call this the "elitist approach". It is designed to make you feel important.
Have you ever seen the Dos Equis commercials? Same idea.
