If you and your spouse wake up at different times in the morning....

I don't mind that at all, but my ex used to snooze for at least an hour, meaning I got to hear the alarm go off about 6 or 7 times every morning. That wasn't good. Especially since it frequently woke me, but not him, so I'd have wake him up and ask him to turn it off. Of course, he'd just hit snooze again, and we'd repeat the whole thing 9 minutes later.

My husband has to wake up at 5:45am and I sometimes stay in bed for another 30-45 minutes. When I do stay in bed, he wakes me up before he leaves to give me a hug and a kiss so can't get annoyed at him.

2.5 hours, 6 vs 8:30
You're a good man for not making a lot of noise.

Well, as you all may have guessed, my wife always wakes me up when she gets ready for work. I'm not faulting her for that but I do wish she actively tried to be quiet. Whenever I have to wake up earlier than someone already sleeping, I try to be as quiet as possible. This is why I'm a fan of carpet instead of hardwood in the bedroom.

The ex's incessant alarm made me want to smash something. It's already one of the top 5 worst sounds in the world. Hearing it so many times every morning grated severely, and really affected the quality of what I considered an important hour of sleep. I don't miss it.

Ok. Hug then. I'm a very light sleeper like you are. Yes, it is annoying to be repeatedly awakened. It's also kindof inconsiderate of the person making excessive niose. I've learned that some people really don't know how to be that quiet. Maybe they walk heavily or click the squeaky doors. I've learned to pick my battles in this area. I've also learned to fall back to sleep quickly. Try hugging. It's nice.

My wife gets up first. Honestly, I like opening my eyes and turning on the TV when she gets up, then going back to sleep for 30-45 more minutes. Waking up on the first try gives me a really grumpalicious mood all day.

Big fan of hugs in the am.
I agree when you say some people just don't know how to be quiet. My wife is one of them. Most days I'm okay with it, however some days suck especially if you didn't sleep well the entire night.

Sorry, no, in re-reading that, I wasn't at all clear. My BF wakes me when he's getting ready, and I don't mind at all. I like it that I get a smooch before he leaves.

Thing I learned today: Girls like to be waken for kisses in the morning.
Thing I already knew: In the morning girls like to get it on.

You can't fall asleep after?...Even if you're up right when she gets up? When my husband has to get up earlier, I often fall back to sleep fairly easily after about 10 minutes...sometimes not, but usually. If it's really bothersome, can you change your work hours so you can get up at 6am with her anyway and leave work earlier in the afternoon? Or, do you have a second bathroom where she can shower or dry her hair (whatever makes the most noise) so it doesn't disturb you as much? Sometimes my husband uses his electric razor in the other bathroom so I can't hear it, even though it usually doesn't bother me for him to use it in the ensuite.

My wife currently sets her alarm for about 5:15 and almost without fail wakes up 1 or 2 minutes before the alarm and stops it from going off. She really tries and does a good job of trying not waking me up, but most of the time I will notice it. She then closes the bedroom door behind her and uses the second bathroom to shower and get ready. I fall back alseep within a few minutes and try to get up before she leaves just before 7:00 (after hitting the snooze button about 4 times from 6:30).
That was what I was wondering.

We deal with that every now and then. Usually we try not to wake the other one. It's not always easy, but you do the best you can. A lot of times when I am going out of town, or have early meetings, I would just put my stuff in the guest bed room so I don't have to fumble around.

The wife wakes up almost 2 1/2 hours earlier than me. I never even wake up to her alarm, apparently over the years my body learned to distinguish the difference. Fortunately she's not heavy on the snooze too, I usually don't know she's up till she wakes me up to kiss me goodbye.
