Question How long was your engagement?

How long was it from when you got engaged to when you got married? Why did you choose that time frame?

3 years. Mostly because we met in college (when I was a Sophomore), and we waited until I graduated.

Got engaged last November and the marriage date is August 15, 2009. So, still have a bit more than a year to go!

7 months.... I was too old to wait much longer... I didn't want to honeymoon in a wheelchair...

...on the real, after we got married, we lived in separate homes (we have one here and one in Arkansas) for almost 2 months waiting for our kids to finish up school and give her time to move down to Texas...

I think it was about a year-- the longest I could get away with...

10 months. We initially planned to wait until I finish grad school and have a church wedding this coming Fall. But my thesis work is taking longer than expected and my student visa was going to expire this summer. We then decided to go though with the civil wedding first so that I can take care of my immigration papers (which will also allow me more options once I start looking for a job) and we'll just have the church wedding once my career is settled.

6 months.

He asked me right after i graduated with my undergrad degrees. We agreed we would wait until August of 08 which would be around the same time I would be finished with my MBA [not true anymore].

One day during dinner....my parents were talking about their upcoming trip to Hawai'i. Then they asked if we wanted to get married there with close friends and relatives. By the end of the dinner - I was thinking of guests to invite and whether the Fairmont of the Four Seasons would be better.

We were in no hurry - it just happened that way.

2 years and 3 months. I was still busy with school, and we had a baby last year. The big day will be here in less than 3 weeks!

About 13 months. For the first few months we just wanted to be engaged, to see how that would feel so we didn't start planning the wedding until the first few months were over with. The wedding date was determined by many factors, location and availability of the church and reception as well as key family members. Plus, we wanted a spring wedding.

^Sure did. Luckily my jeweler is pretty cool and lets me trade it in when I'm ready to get another ring (I get the original purchase price in credit). So, I didn't totally lose out. Plus, there's that whole "mother-in-law" thing that would have been pretty rocky.

I got engaged at the end of March of 2003, got married by the end of June of 2003 (3 months)

Why? Because my community usually does short engagements. We were originally considering to get married in August 2003, but plans changed and we moved it up to June...

Why buy the cow when u can put her on lay a way indefinitely!!

JK!!! My girl will de-nut me if she ever saw that! We were engaged for about 18 months before we broke up (and eventually got back together). Even though we aren't officially engaged again.. We still intro each other as fiancée.
