HELP! Need travel idea for 2nd Anniv!

Here's the deal... this coming July 13 will be my second anniversary with my gf and we both want to travel somewhere to celebrate. I'm asking for ya'll to help me out and think of somewhere romantic, yet fun, place to go on a weekend for our anniversary. Please be as detailed as possible... for example, if you suggest me to go to San Diego, please also mention what would be fun to do there and which nice restaurants are available. Here are the requirements:

1) MUST be somewhere in the U.S... PREFERABLY somewhere near so we can drive there and save money from airplane tickets and use it on something else (BTW, I live in LA country California).
2) MUST be reasonable... I'm not filthy rich so let's plan a weekend for around $800 at the most.
3) Suggest some stuff that we can both do together.

THANKS!!!

if you want to go up north here, go to Napa. They have the most choices of places to go to, plus a nice little downtown to go get your grub on. And they also have the Napa Outlets if the gf wants to do some shopping.

I disagree with vegas, there is very little romantic about that place! Its fun and entertaining, but better if your single or sharing an experience with someone- not trying to create a romantic get away.

I agree with the wine thing, I don't drink much at all but am told there is a region in Cali. where you are sent off to go from vineyard to vineyard on pedal bike(no DUI or DWI) in a small group and you stay in a nice hotel and it'll be cheap, fun and a great experience to share with someone special.

I have never been to Cali. but over here(in particular in the New England area) there are a lot of bed and breakfasts in smaller towns that have a lot of history and interesting things to visit. You may want to see if there are some places with a lot of history that would have something like that near you.

bed and breakfast, weekend spa/resort anything that caters to a female and she will love it.

dont make the schedule too busy, cause you'll want to spend time together to relax side by side

shit get a nice hotel room and get her breakfast in bed every morning then three day trips for friday sat and sun. that can be done for $800

There are some great places to visit in Carmel. A lot of couples like to go there for a weekend. You can take PCH or US101 up to Carmel. Also, its not far from Monterey.

In Napa, try either the Villagio or the Yountville Inn. Both are very nice, romantic (fireplaces with complimentary wine and champagne in the rooms) and the Villagio offers a champagne brunch. We've been there twice, both times on Valentines Day. Highly recommend.

Bellagio's in Las Vegas is sweet. Get a room facing the fountains, book a ticket to the Circque de Soleil, dinner in the hotel. Ain't cheap but it is very nice.

Lake Tahoe - a beautiful place and can be very affordable.

If doing the wine tour don't drink Merlot.

Monterey/Carmel, Lake Tahoe, or Olive Garden.
I can't imagine Napa being any more interesting with a chick
than it is with family.

21 driving a kickass STI. You don't strike me as the wine country type. Vegas Baby! Stay at the Hard Rock and enjoy the scenery around the pool.

People know the song Kokomo by the Beach Boys right? I was going to suggest going there...

Off the florida keys
There’s a place called kokomo
That’s where you wanna go to get away from it all

Bodies in the sand
Tropical drink melting in your hand
We’ll be falling in love
To the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in kokomo

So I'm googling for info on Kokomo and all I find is Kokomo, Indiana. I don't ever want to visit Indiana unless, well actually, no there's nothing that'll make me want to visit Indiana. So is this Kokomo place real or imaginary?

I answered my own question. But here's the info for anyone interested.

Kokomo Island
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Kokomo Island is part of a privately owned vacation resort, the Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It became famous after being the inspiration for The Beach Boys' Mike Love's number one hit song, Kokomo.

It is a very small island, and according to the Sandals Royal Caribbean website, the only amenities on the island are an Indonesian restaurant, a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, and a bar. The island caters to couples on tropical getaways.
