The Ex fessed up while we were just chilling one evening. I remember she told me she had something really important to tell me and just broke down in tears...At the time, I was angry but the sight of her in tears also softened me up. She seemed really sorry and at the time, I truly believed she was...
It is not my place to really challenge her true feelings at the time...And as it was common for me, I reflected on my own actions and thought well, I perhaps was not as great of a BF as I could be. So, I forgave her.
Our relationship would go for another 2 years but I would officially go into a "crisis" as my Dad was dying of liver cancer. Naturally, as I was very distracted, our relationship deteriorated and well, she was always quite clingy. And I guess immaturity had alot to do with it...But, the timing of our break-up was just all in all lousy...
Perspective-wise, I dunno if I could ever say I hate her. I've run into her at the odd large gathering since we have mutual friends and I still can't. I think I'll always have feelings for her as with the good and the bad, I did truly believe she would've been my wife eventually.
Obviously, things work out better. As for her now-fiance who was once my good friend...I can't stand him and yeah, I would have no tears shed if he did jump off a cliff.
To answer your question, Doc...I was in a really bad place for the next 2 years and aside from being very angry with life, I also was not a nice guy to women. I dated many and was generally a supreme prick...even to say I preyed on "weak" women. I used them and left them...
I then, well...met my wife and she changed me slowly and surely during the years we dated. I suppose when they say, you meet "the one"...you really do. I wanted to become better again and she helped me to see the better side of life again...
I don't really have a true advice on how you can trust your current squeeze. But, as much as some people say you trust your "gut feelings", in some cases, such as the one with her heading back home for weeks, it is next to impossible to detect. I suppose, this is where trust comes into play. Do you have a reason to suspect?

That's the worst of it. Female friends text and call me and GF is cool with that so it is what it is. The rest of the time she's speaking in Mandarin on the phone but if it's a guy on the other line, GF is always up front and honest like he's a co-worker, client, etc.
I have friends who end up being misogynistic after they catch their GF cheating. Glad you didn't end up the same way

Not really. One time last year we got in a fight, she went out to have drinks with her girlfriend, and some random guy came over to talk to her. She told him her sob story, prolly about me being unreasonable (I can't even remember what we were arguing about, we hardly fight), he asked for her #, she was crying and gave it to him, and he called her a couple days later. I happened to be there when he called, she told me the truth, and that was it.

To me that's cheating.. When you're in a relationship, the intimacy between you two is personal and when your mate shares that intimacy with a acquaintance, co-worker or some random guy / gal. That trust is broken already no matter if it's because of a fight or unhappy at home.. that intimacy should always be guarded with the small exception to closest of friends and family.

Really? Man, random people complain about their relationships to me all the time. Sometimes I'm thinking "TMI." I would be more upset if my GF was divulging all the details of our relationship to one of her close guy friends. That's a more slippery slope IMO. GF is cool though, she always introduces me as her BF to other guys and once asked some dude to stop texting her as she was already in a committed relationship. I still get nutz on occasion so I'm not going to pass judgement on my girl that I wouldn't hold myself to. Honestly, I don't think my GF would mind. She knew I was going out for bachelor party, told me to have a good time, don't waste too much $$, and that was that. I have never cheated and my wife ( 2 + years of marriage and over 5 years overall) has never cheated either and I know this for a fact!! I wouldn't no how it feels to be cheated on but I do know someone would get beat down!!!!
