Would you ever give a second chance to a girl who cancelled a date on your phone call ? I believe this to be totally unacceptable because if she's rude enough to cancel, she can at least be courteous enough to call on her own. Opinions?

I ran into one such idiot many months ago. She cancelled on the day she asked me to call her for a movie hangout because she was doing her taxes that day. She asked me to call her later and see if she was home from doing her taxes and I told her no. This girl tried to get me to call her on several occasions after that, but I never fell for her games again. The dummy told me she couldn't call because her phone doesn't allow long distance and my cell phone had a different area code from her landline. I said, ok no problem. Now we can both go on not calling each other, hahaha.

Reason or not, why does she have to wait for your call? If she's by the phone waiting for your call, she could just as easily call herself.

There is only one reason I might and I repeat, might be able to accept. If the girl cancelled on my call because she didn't pay her phone bill and could only receive calls, and if she doesn't have a cell phone, I might give her another chance, but I'd be very wary of her from that point on.

i agree, and if that is her mindset then she can be gone, but for now if her situation is that she does not have a cell phone, and no long distance on her landline, then it could be a nice situation. i was never one to be on the phone with a girl all the time, so that would be all good with me.

Her no long distance excuse was totally unacceptable. I live in NYC and she lives in Nassau County (Long Island). The phone call to my cell phone would be considered a regional call at best and according to my boy who works at Verizon, there is nothing that would stop the call from going through but her cheapness. If this girl is too cheap to pay 50 cents more on her phone bill...you know how the rest goes.

Would I give her another chance? Yes, but only one. Cancel on me or act flaky in anyway and that would be it. Flaky is not an attractive quality, its pretty much the ugliest quality a woman can have for me. (psycho jealous being the topper)

Those are the women to avoid altogether. There is no such thing as a girl who doesn't call guys who are good girlfriend material. This is an impossibility.

I like it. Means she's old fashioned and likes to follow protocol. Then again I'm in mid 30s so there are different qualities I'm looking for.

After a while they'll call, but for the initial chase many won't. As long as I keep the upper hand its all good.

Then you're a more patient man than I am because if the girl doesn't call after a short time of hanging out (1 week max), then I stop calling. The 1 week rule obviously doesn't apply if you're only hanging out once a week, but after a few hangouts, she should be courteous enough to do some calling too. If she only receives call and doesn't make any, cut her off. It's the best thing you could do.

I date them. We go on dates, we get tipsy and then we go to the others house and shag. If date went well then she'll get a call from me.

All women like to be chased...especially the really good ones.

Shag? Are you British? I don't believe in chasing girls and those who want to be chased always wind up with losers who actually waste their time. I've met many girls who were winners and many losers too, and one common trait was that the winners call and the losers don't.

The girl was a tool. If she was doing her taxes, she should have the COURTESY to call you and inform you. The onus is on HER. This is common courtesy. Think about if you have plans with a friend (male or female, it doesn't matter), and they've already commited themselves to something else, cancelling your plans together, it's THEIR responsibility to call you. Not the other way around. I'm glad you didn't give her another chance. Chances are if you dated her, she'd be expecting too much from you.

You're right, she's a tool. Any girl who believes that it's ok to cancel on the guy's call is a definite tool. She also had 3 days to notify me, but her discourteous ass decided that it's only right that the guy should always call.

I'd say give her one chance, but make it her responsibility to arrange plans for the next date. This puts the ball in her court to see if she is willing to make the effort. If not, no loss - as long as you don't state it like "Well, if you ever want to do anything with me, let me know. I'll be home moping and waiting for you to call".

If you want her to call you....call her up and tell her you're busy today, but would like to get together with her sometime later this week....BUT, tell her to think about where she'd like to go and to call you tomorrow to set up plans. If she doesn't call, ohs well.

The point is that I don't want to go out with her. She had to go to the accountant that day and it was inexcusable that she waited for me to call instead of calling on her own.

Despite her efforts to have me call her again, I never did because it's clear to me that she won't do any of the calling and that's not a woman I want to be involved with. This happened many months ago and I have since found a much better looking girl anyway. My current girl has no problem calling whatsoever.

I'd give her one more chance, just one. Also, I put everything on her. She has to make it up to me and arrange everything. If she screws up a second time, that's it.

Basically, there's only 1 acceptable date cancellation. It's only if she is really sorry and wants to make it up and you make plans immediately or make plans to talk later to make plans. The whole point is to figure out if she's interested or not. If she's not interested, there's no point in pursuing her and trying to make her like you. I've beat this thing to death before so I won't go into details.

Also she has to be the one to call and preferably at least a day ahead. Date cancellations on the day of the date or a few hours ahead are completely unacceptable. I'd never call up a girl who cancelled a date that late without a great reason like somebody died or something blew up.

There's no fast and hard rules but basically if she is either disinterested enough to not care about breaking the date or she's just a rude person who is insensitive and only cares about herself and it doesn't bother her that she's ruining other people's plans, then you don't want to get involved with her.

Finally, the only response to a cancelled date is to not call. She cancelled the date. If she wants to see me, she'll call to say hi. If she's the type of girl to not call the guy, I've automatically eliminated a unyielding princess so it works itself out.
