Best place in NYC for an engagement ring?

Well...looks like I will be popping the big question soon and will like to know if anyone here knows where is the best place to get a diamond ring. I know there are many in the diamond district, but will like to see if there are any hookups here.

Thanks

if you're shopping the diamond district, try to stay closer to 5th ave., rather than 6th ave. My personal experiences as a retailer and these guys' sales tactics. It's like the rotten apples ruining good apples, some guys are there for a quick sale with cash, a small few want to take the time and teach you what you need to know and get your repeat business.

My advice: find a friend who recently or in the past has shopped for a diamond and bring him along.

if you want to educate yourself, no ones going to spoonfeed it to you, there's too many aspects. read up starting here:

Good Luck, and try not to look these sites up while you're on a computer she uses too.

In NYC if you don't know anyone in the business, it will be hard.

I say go about it in the Diamond district to pick what you want, once you'll have an idea of what you are looking for you can start bargaining.

Good luck, and keep us updated.
