I did one for my buddy in April. I memorized one but totally went on my own when it came time to give the speech. I thought it would mean more to him if I did that. One thing I did was first thank the parents for having everyone there to celebrate. One thing that happens a lot is the fact that the parents don't get credit for aything. During the speech I just brought up certian things we did together (and with his wife)...haha...don't bring up the bachelor party
.
Keep it simple but meaninful. Don't worry too much about it.
Oh yea...alcohol helps too

I had to do that once. I hated it. But my advice would be to write down a bunch of points you want to touch on on a card. Don't write the entire thing down. Just gather several ideas, order them, and practice by yourself a few times.
A joke or two to loosen the crowd, some sappy stuff, and then a good closing ( a toast usually ). It's just a few minutes but it seems like forever.
And like 0-Town said, have a drink before (but not too many

well dude if you're true friends, just speak from your mind. think of a funny story that everyone will like about his old shitty hairstyle or beater car or something. I did this recently and thought I'd fuck it up but it turned out fine. especially if you get to have a microphone - instant command of attention.

I wrote a 16 line poem for my older bro.....I had all 450 people in the hall laughing! It only took like 2 hours to think it up.....My bro and his wife framed it and put it in thier kitchen!
