I do like charcoal but it's takes too much time and work.. Propane is just so easy.

When I finally make a paver patio around our fire pit I'll probably get one of those park grills. Just for fun.

Every time I used a charcoal grill I never knew how much charcoal to use.

Plus it's a PITA to cleanup and changeout.

But yea...my grill gets like 600* in 5 minutes. I'm eating when you're about to put food on the grill Justin.

I know people say that but I hardly taste any difference between charcoal and propane. If your smoking meat then of course charcoal is the way to go.

Smoked meat is awesome but when I'm grilling a steak or burger it's perfectly fine on a propane grill. I hate spending 30 minutes to fire up a charcoal grill so I can grill a steak or burger for 5-10 minutes.

Natural gas from the house is even easier.

So I was able to pick up a very nice Weber Genesis EP-320 grill on craigslist for $150 and it even came with a full propane tank. Grill is in very good shape and no rust whatsoever. Attached is the picture from the seller, I did clean her up and need to try her out.

So...my grill had a mishap over the weekend and fell off my (12ft off the ground currently undergoing some renovations and doesn't have a railing right now) deck during a pretty bad storm and as such is pretty beat up and not usable anymore. Thankfully the gas tank was fine and didn't suffer any damage.

Now I'm looking at getting a Weber gas (LP, not NG) grill. Anyone have any advice? I'm in between the Genesis and the Summit series. I really love the Summit but I don't think I can justify double the cost for an extra burner and a fuel gauge.

Any thoughts on grill surfaces between porcelain coated cast iron or SS? Wondering if the full SS grill is going to be worth it or not.

Any other brands/options to look at?

Before someone chimes in about charcoal, I already have a Weber kettle that I love. I just want something that's easier to deal with for smaller cooking jobs.

Nice Craigslist find man! I was going to mention that before. Get some good stainless cleaner and that thing will look brand new.

The great thing about these are their parts are readily available. So even if the burners are showing their age, just replace them!

I couldn't believe when I went to pick it up. The lady told me it's in good shape but I was worried that it would be in ruff shape but that thing was near perfect after a little cleaning.

Now i need to find a good cover any ideas? Need something that will hold up to humid / hot summers and very cold winters.

Man sorry to hear that! Hopefully it wasn't a very nice / expensive grill.

Just buy a legit Weber cover. Pretty sure the 300 series has a standard cover...

To answer your question on the full SS I don't think I would spend the extra money. As long as you keep after your grill and keep it covered it will last a very long time.

what else do you want a "cover" to do?

both my weber covers do exactly what they need to do, cover the grill from outside elements.

hell, even an old tarp will do.

Mine is starting to crack a bit on the top. It's been through three Ohio summers and winters.... But at $30 or whatever it was I don't really care.

Just Amazon that shit and go off the reviews.

Picked up a Weber Genesis S-330 this spring. I love everything about it except I wish it had 4 burners. I have cooked on a 4 burner natural gas grill for the past 5 years at my parents so getting used to only having 3 has taken a little time.

I like having a lot of grilling space as well cause I like to cook full meals on the grill. In face I am doing bone in NY strips tonight, grilled zucchini and squash wedges, and halved red skin potatoes on the top shelf. The 4 burner made it much easier to grill an entire meal like that at different heat levels. However, to get that in a Weber I would have had to jump to a much higher price range of the Summit series. Someday I will pick one up.

I don't expect a cover to do anything else besides protect from outside elements but from the reviews I have read people say that Weber's covers are not like what they used to be and rip very easy. I don't want to pay $70 for a cover is there are covers out there that can be had for $25-$45.

Lack of humidity? I have never covered mine, and I doubt the previous owner did either. I have replaced the drip plates once since 2009, but the burners are still good. The actual grill has been replaced once, and I am guessing it's going on 10 years. I imagine coastal climates would slash those lifetimes.

Weber has two different covers, a normal one and a premium one. Get the premium one, it's worth it.

FWIW, my dearly departed grill had some standard $15 cover from Lowes and it worked flawlessly through the past three MN summers (hot and humid) and winters (bone chilling cold, lots of snow, and no humidity). It still works just fine but unfortunately the grill no longer does. A cover is a cover, get whatever works and is within your budget. If I had a Weber that I kept outdoors, I'd get the Weber premium cover. My Weber kettle sits in the garage so IDGAF about a cover.

It's a Perfect Flame SLG2007A I picked up free. It is all stainless steel and heavy duty plastic. The model has had massive recalls due to the lid catching fire engulfing the whole unit.

Picked up a large Big Green Egg over the weekend. Been itching to break it in but haven't had time. Tomorrow might be the day though.

I heard a lot of great things about the Big Green Egg but I can't see myself spending close to a grand on a charcoal grill.

Let's us know how you like yours when you get around to using it.

So far I am extremely happy with my Weber Genesis - it is indeed a wonderful grill

Grilled some Sirloin Steaks on Tuesday and fresh ground beef burgers on Wednesday. Both came out amazing and very nice grill marks.

I have did some reading on the Green Egg and it really sounds like an awesome grill / smoker. If they were so expensive I would get it.
