Need help for steaming crab for the first time.
I decided this year, I'm going to have something different for Thanksgiving this year. I love crab meat and have always loved when the dad's side of my family would have them during the summers. But I never knew how to do it myself.
My wife doesn't care for crab meat, so it would just be my son and I chowing on the crab, while she eats the turkey.
Obviously I will need crabs (not sure how many yet), but I am confused on what kind of pot I would need.
Anyone who could point me in the right direction on what kind of pot I would need would be appreciated.
Also how long do live crab usually survive before being cooked? I'm going to have to get them sometime this week but have to keep them alive somehow until Thursday.

In terms of quantity, most places sell them by the dozen. You don't just pick how many you want.
You can buy a pot at the place you buy the crab. Don't forget the Old Bay!

Can't help you with pot, but if you were to do it style, just get a big wok.

That's how my dad always cooks them. He buys them in Chinatown at places that sell fish and other seafood or at Asian markets, and he can buy them in any quantity he wants. They're also much cheaper than at american places.

You get like a big ass 12 quart pot....some old bay seasoning...boil it up...
Buy crabs live by the bushel.....keep those fuckers in a kiddie pool (have someone stand guard with a broom to keep them in)
And boil those little bastards til they are bright ride...
Eat that shit
