Lowenbrau Beer... What Now?

Back in the eighties (80's), Lowenbrau was the classy, broadly distributed beer that could be purchased almost everywhere (the tin-foil wrapper tops were classic). When you ordered it, it meant something as compared to a Bud or Coors. Now, it has basically vanished.

What is a classy beer that can be purchased at most bars? (Draft or bottled) Maybe that question is an oxymoron... All I can think of today at most bars (again forget about getting the great German brands), would be Heiniken, Amstel, Newcastle, or Michelob regular.

What would your top-of-the-line beer order be at "local bar XYZ?"

classy and beer is a bit of an oxymoron but you picked two I would slightly consider "classy"

Heineken and Amstel Light

There are more "trendy" beers than classy beers on the market today.

To me, classy at a bar is a vodka rocks with a twist

I think today most bars carry a local microbrew or two or three .... those are usually the best beers they have.

And I'd like to thank you for instilling the Lowenbrau jingle in my head. Was that sung by Lou Rawls?

Only the old people will remember that. According to THIS is was sung by Arthur Prysock.

Here's to good friends,
Tonight is kind of special.
The beer we'll pour
must say something more, somehow.
So tonight (tonight),
Tonight,
Let it be Löwenbräu (let it be Löwenbräu).
It's been so long.
Hey, I'm glad to see ya.
Raise your glass.
Here's to health and happiness.
So tonight (tonight),
Let it be all the best.
