List Your Favorite Restaurant(s)

One of the hobbies that Mrs. CanopyFlyer and I like to indulge in is finding new restaurants to try. Not chain places, but locally owned places from the hole in the wall, to the formal dress French restaurant.

Prices for a couple (including drinks):
$$$$$ $150 and up
$$$$ $100 to $149
$$$ $75 to $99
$$ $35 to $74
$ below $35

Here are some of our favorites by location (most have links).

Cincinnati, OH

Daveed's at 934 $$$$ (Our absolute favorite)
Jean-Robert at Pigalls $$$$$
Ambar India $$ (An incredible Indian Restaurant, much better than anything I've had in NY or Chicago)
Asiana Thai $$ (Our favorite Thai restaurant)
Riverside Korean Restaurant $$

Madison WI
Harvest $$$$
Eno Vinos $$$$
Lao Laan-Xang $$ Laotion

Lahaina, HI (Maui)
David Paul's Lahaina Grill $$$$$ If your on Maui try this place, it is fantastic.
I'O Restaurant $$$$ Another must try on Maui

There are many more, however the above restaurants we have either patronized several times or had exceptional experiences and would recommend to anyone.

Are those prices you list per person or for the both of you? I don't think I've ever spent $75 on a meal, even with drinks.

They are very expensive restaurants. Average about $200-300 per couple, add some nice wine or champagne and you will spend much more.. just trying to get a point across thats all..

Reading comprehension > me
And I have no recommendations, but would be interested to see others in the LA/OC area.

There are plenty of others, but I don't think they are as well known

No worries.

My wife's sister just moved to LA last month, so we actually have a reason to go out and visit now. It would be nice to know where the natives go to eat.

Momma's Fish House

Unfortunately we didn't find out about the place until we were on the island. Reservations were not available that entire week. It was with a sad sigh that we passed by going to and from the road to Hana. We'll make reservation in advance for our next trip.

An update: Eno Vinos is now our favorite restaurant in Madison WI. Great prices and food.

This weekend is our 2nd anniversary, so we are trying someplace new (for us). The Blue Marlin just off Captitol Square in downtown Madison. I'll post our experience.

Ate at a place in Portland last night called Le Pigeon and it was great. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the menu was fucking perfect. Definitely going back there. Dinner for two with a decent bottle of wine was just shy of 200 dollars - which if found to be reasonable given the quality of the food.

Aruba's in Ft. Lauderdale $$-$$$ (depends on what you order).

We've been going here for years and even bring out of town guests who absolutely love it! Right on the beach too, so you can see the waves while you enjoy your dinner!

Here is one for anyone in or traveling to New York City.

Noodle Pudding-- Italian place that has a constantly changing menu. I'd make recommendations, but unless you're going with in the next week or so, the menu will change.

Great food and service, although being with people (wife's aunt and uncle) who have patronized the place from day one, plus they are on a first name basis with most of the staff and owner probably helped.

They don't take reservations for less than 6. Plan to go very early as in before 5:30 or plan to wait.

Boulevard - $$$$$
Slanted Door - $$$$
North Beach Restaurant - $$$$$
Asia de Cuba - $$$$

Wine Country:
Mustard's - $$$
Bouchon - $$$$$
Domaine Chandon - $$$$$

( I couldn't bring myself to going to French Laundry either, but I'm pretty sure Bouchon is run by the same person...)

I'm kind of mixed about French Laundry, but it keeps getting top reviews. Someday I guess, but there are so many great restaurants in the Bay Area that I don't think I need to rush over there.

A couple of local places I like in Miami that are $ - $$ range.

El Novillo - Nicaraguan restaurant where you get churassco steak and gallo pinto (brown rice and beans) and banana chips. Has a nice Central American theme and the service is good. $$ for 2.

Amici's - local Italian joint. Probably the best in Kendall area. I typically get ravioli or pizza. Their stuffed portabella appetizer is great. $ for 2.

Peruvian Express - Peruvian food. Wife usually get Tallarines Verde con Bistec (green spaghetti with steak). I get lomo saltado which is basically cut up meat, onions, tomatoes, and fries drowned in the steak gravy with rice on the side. Their Chupe (seafood bisque) is excellent. $ for 2.
