I've had my xbox with the xecuter chip for a while but never really bothered before but anyone know how to but avi movie files on it and put emulators on it?

You use an FTP program
I personally do not move movies to it because its dumb unless you plan on moving it around, loading it up with movies then go to someones house for instance. I just share a folder on my desktop then watch movies over the network, runs great and saves time.

Emulators are moved to certain folders...I believe E or something. Just look on Xbox-Scene and go to the How to's or help section. I am too lazy to look it up.

 

do i hafta put a chip in my xbox to be able to burn games and play them? I know nothing about any of this stuff, but I googled it a bit and it seems as if I need that chip and then I would hafta burn iso files? Can someone help point me in the right direction? I would love to mod my xbox as it just sits there pretty much brand new collecting dust. What are some of the capabilities of a modded xbox?

you dont have to chip it, you can just softmod it nowadays. I think the best thing about modding an xbox is the fact that you can run xbox media center (XBMC)

You can network it with your computer and then stream pretty much any movie file (that isnt HD) onto your TV. You can also run emulators and backuped games, etc,

wow, thats great! Any more info on this would be greatly appreciated! I read a little bit about it where it says I hafta get the downloads through an FTP connection? Im really a newb to this stuff so if you can spell it out in laymens terms for me or just point me in the right direction I will buy you an E beer

Is your box already modded? Cause if it is and you are running Avalaunch or XBMC (you can make your xbox boot into either of them) Look up your IP address for the xbox by either looking at the bottom of the screen on Avalauch or on XBMC its in network settings or you can go into your router and look it up.

Now that you have it, type it into the FTP where it asks for Address
Then enter Xbox as the username and the password.

It should pop up some folders that are in the xbox

If you don't have XBMC, I can email it to you since there is no download site since it is technically illegal.

How to Install Games/Emulators and shit...
He uses a different way then me, if you download game ISO's all you need is Qwix to xfer them to your xbox, look up Qwix.

no my xbox isnt modded yet, thats what Im trying to do but this stuff is all new to me

hey klepto, thanks for the link...isnt there another way to do the softmod without having to use the action replay card and any of the games for the game save part? I thought you can just use the XBMC or something like that. Im waiting for JJ4short to get back to me to send the XBMC file. What method did u use for your xbox?

 

you have to use one of the game exploits, I think the three are mechassault, 007 and I forgot the 3rd game. I got mechassault used at EBgames for like $3. The AR (action replay) is the hard item to get since xbox is discontinued. You actually DONT have to use AR, you can splice up a controller with a usb cord, the AR is just used to transfer the game save exploit from your computer to the xbox and then you install the softmod.

AFTER that, then you can hook up your xbox, FTP in and install XMBC
