XBOX 360 HIT BY STOCK SHORTAGES ALREADY?
Reports out of the US suggest 360 pre-orders have already drained stocks - before they're even on the shelves
Stocks of Xbox 360 consoles are already critically low because of rampant pre-ordering, according to reports emanating from US retailers.
The reports, which remain speculation at this point, suggest that numerous large US retailers including EB Games and Gamestop have already exhausted their early stock allocations.
It seems that the demand for Microsoft's next-gen machine has been so great that a huge number of customers have pre-ordered their Xbox 360s - possibly resulting in empty store shelves when the console actually launches in November.
The news will cause distress for Microsoft, which was hit by severe Xbox stock shortages in the run-up to last Christmas. Also, potential Xbox 360 shortages could complicate the console's planned worldwide launch - it's expected to release in the US, Europe and Asia within weeks of each other in November.

granted it's just speculation at the moment.
But still. How is that even possible? If they've only allocated a certain numbers to these retailers for preorders, I'd I assume they'd actually have some consoles left for actual store shelves?
Otherwise that's just ridiculous to put ALL your stock into the preorder queue. I mean you’d still want people to come into the store to hopefully buy other crap. But I can see wanting to avoid the mass crowds, actually really the angry mob of people, unable to get a next gen system. Then they’d jack up your store.
And thinking about it a bit more. If they know the high demand now, wouldn’t they have a bit a time to ratchet up production? Unless of course there’s a limited supply of raw materials to make the darned things.

1,000,000 units x $50 = $50,000,000 at 4% (modest) for 6 mos. = $1,000,000 revenue.
Easy.

but in all seriousness, I don't see how this would be a problem. If the units are sold, they're sold - regardlesss of whether they were pre-ordered, or sold off the shelves. If anything, it is an ADVANTAGE to have all the pre-orders and have all of them sold out - they know they have sure-fire sales. I don't get why they are saying it will cause "distress" for Microsoft... I seriously doubt that.

Only one pre-order here actually. Luckily the EB and Gamestop where I live are all sold out of pre-orders now, even their second shipment. Good thing I got in early.
isn't it gonna come out next hyear or something? how can it be sold out over 6 months before release. youd'd think microsoft would have learned since the incident with xbox shortages. I WAS gonna get an xbox, but noplace had them spo i said fuck it.
I'll probably just get revolution since it's backwards compatibility shit. I mean the 360's graphics don't look THAT much better.

In regards to the graphics, they will be FAR superior to the Revolution, and don't judge the system on the first screen shots from E3... All were running on Alpha hardware that was only 30% as powerful as the final system. If you want to see screen shots using newly released Beta hardware (~80% as powerful as final system), check out the pics in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/console-computer-gaming-13/microsoft-xbox-360-news-310819/
