Xbox 360 Picture

This is most likely the Xbox 360... Looks pretty good IMO and much smaller than the current Xbox (compare the total size to the size of a disk tray)

It can be used on it's side or flat like the PS2... Also notice there are no controller ports which means it will be wireless. The hard drive attachment is on the side

Here's another interesting pic to show the size relationship compared with the PS2. While it definitely is nowhere near the size of the new PS2, it is close to the original PS2 which I think is great (definitely an improvement over the current Xbox brick)

It should be out sometime in the fall this year... I'd guess November like the original Xbox launch.

In regards to backwards compatibility, no one really knows. I guess we'll find out at E3 in a few weeks

Hehe...I love knowing stuff the masses don't. Especially about wireless controllers, chargers, and *cough* interface cables...

Why is the hard drive removable?

If it's only wireless, what is the hole next to the memory slot?

It's an IR sensor.

The hard drive is removable because it is most likely a separately purchased accessory. (Thus you see "MEMORY SLOT A") = standard.

Don't forget that there is most likely an external power brick for this one as well.

No. I do not work for Microsoft or any of its subcontractors.

Any inside knowledge I have is bound by NDA and cannot be revealed until public knowledge.

Any posts or information here is speculation, opinion, or repeats of other public website postings.

- The option of HDD or not has LONG been speculated about. The last rumors I heard were that the XBox was going to go Flash only.
- Wireless...well...is wireless. The IR port LOOKs like an IR port.
- Most companies are moving to external power bricks. Look at HP printers.

Here a fact that I CAN reveal: I've never seen the thing.

Using an external brick does 2 things.
First it allows you to make a smaller box of a computer/game system.
Second, you lose the requirement of at least the power supply fan.

And third, everybody and their Chinese brother makes cheap 120V-12V power bricks these days. Thus it's cheap. But I could be wrong.

For a TV, it draws too much power to be external...unless you're talking about LCDs.

I try. Microsoft is a bit on the litigous side.

But, more or less what I said above is true. All that's posted is rumors, even from me. I just find it interesting seeing something I've "worked" on be so public. Most of my experience has been in industry where no one ever sees the things except the OEM.

I can see why they want to be careful.

I gotta get my pre-orders placed after the big announcement anyway so I can sell those puppies on eBay for a 10-20% profit like I did with the original XBox.

I don't get them cheaper. I buy up existing stock and when the demand outstrips supply, I sell on eBay to the desperate parents that want the latest and greatest for their kid's X-mas. Then I charge them extra for "expedited shipping".

It's evil, but it works. Last time I bought 10. Sold 9, and had enough left over, that essentially #10 was free. I kept it.
