Wireless adaptor for Xbox 360...

I have an Xbox 360 with the Xbox wireless adapter for playing online. I have question, my girl wants her nephew to be able to play online too. I was wondering do you have to buy the official wireless adaptor or can you just purchase something like this for it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-187-_-Product. Thx guys...

You can use a laptop to connect your Xbox online. The Linksys isn't going to work.

yea you don't have to use the "official" xbox adapter. there are a few wireless routers on newegg that will work including 1 or 2 N routers.. i'd have to dig up the link that i saw a few days ago.

I had this one laying around, works great for my 360. You should be able to find that much cheaper online, I just did a search to give you the name of it.

Only problem I had with using my laptop was that my NAT setting were set to moderate, which caused some problems. I used a macbook and couldnt find a solution to open them, but there might be a way to change it on a PC.

Generically speaking, what you're looking for is a "wireless bridge." The Linksys unit Brian posted at Amazon is one such device.

I have my 360 connected directly to my router.

You can also do this:

When I take my 360 downstairs, I use the wireless bridge.

If you have a DVR with internet capabilities, you can link the bridge to the 360 and DVR. Also to a TV, PS3, BD player.
