"People say BloodRayne has a very bad IMDB rating - yes, but how many votes of zero points were made before the movie was out, by people who hate me but haven't even seen the movie?
"I've met tons of people who think BloodRayne is way better than Underworld 2, but they're not going on the Internet and writing that... I'm a little tired of only getting questions from journalists like, 'Your movies were so badly received, blah blah blah.' I know tons of movies that were way worse than Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead."
And besides, says Boll, what exactly is it that we are expecting from him? After all, he is using videogames as his source material, and they're hardly reknowned for their complex characterisations and sophisticated narratives.
"Let's be realistic, what is House of the Dead? House of the Dead is a brainless shooter, where you shoot zombies into pieces. So what are you expecting from the movie, Schindler's List?

He's trying to make excuses and justifications for his crap.
NO WAY in hell is BloodRayne better then Underworld 2.
He wants to bag on using games for his sourcematerial??? Then, quit excepting those projects. Basically, he is admitting to make shit for the money.
Fucking kill yourself and be done with it.

I just saw the first Underworld last week and I turned into a quivering mass of drool every time Kate was on the screen.

Boll is an no talent ass clown. He couldn't even make a good movie if they gave him Metal Gear Solid. That's a game with a solid, smart story, but he would still fuck it up.

Loken Defends Uwe Boll
At least she admits he doesn't have much of a track record.
by Patrick Klepek, 03/22/2006
It's understandable why director Uwe Boll (Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne) believes his movies are great: he made them. What's far more puzzling is how the actors and actresses starting in his flicks not only compliment him outside of the traditional promotional glitz and glamour, but actually come back to star in more of his films.
Kristanna Loken took on the starring role in this year's box office tank Bloodrayne, but also agreed to take up a supporting role in his next flick, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, an adaptation of the Gas Powered Games hack 'n slash. Though Loken does compliment the new film's stellar cast, she's a bit more honest now.
Sci Fi Wire chatted with the actress about Boll's next masterpiece, and admitted she was disappointed with how Bloodrayne panned out. "I know that Uwe does not have a great track record, to say the least," she said. "Hey, I'm going to be objective. It's not going to win any awards, but I thought for what it was it was a pretty decent film."
Not only did Bloodrayne not win any awards, Box Office Mojo says the film only made roughly $2.4 million when it was released, despite a production budget of $25 million and an estimated marketing cost of $22 million. Yikes.
Still, even Loken stands behind some of Boll's own reasoning for the film's theatrical misfire. Boll previously told 1UP the film was not distributed properly and literally thousands of theaters ended up not carrying the film. "...you put over a year of your life into a project, and you think it's going to do something. So I think we really did get cheated in that sense," she said to Sci Fi Wire.

Uwe Boll denied keys to Azeroth
Doesn't care about gamers 'because they steal movies'
By Wily Ferret: Tuesday, 22 April 2008, 9:04 AM
NOT CONTENT WITH ROLLING in hundreds of millions of dollars of income a month, Blizzard Entertainment, makers of World of Warcraft, have licensed the game to become a movie, with a release tentatively scheduled for a late 2009 release.
But it seems that one man who won't be getting a slice of that very fat pie is Uwe Boll, the infamous film maker behind previous game-to-silver-screen adaptations Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Postal and Dungeon Siege. Boll's movies are so hated by critics and game fans alike that the core audience for such adaptations almost never turns out to see the movies.
When he heard about the Warcraft movie, Boll told MTV that "I got in touch with Paul Sams of Blizzard and he said 'We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... especially not to you," which rather indicates that Mr Sams had wind of Boll's reputation ahead of time.
Boll excels at making low budget films that turn a healthy profit, thanks to judicious use of film financing legal loopholes in various Eastern European countries. Blizzard appears to be looking for something more of a mainstream hit.
Indeed, Blizzard will also surely want to please its hardcore fanbase, which Boll doesn't seem too bothered about. "To be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don’t pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys?"
Why please a video gaming audience when trading on video game names? It's certainly beyond us.

Uwe Boll Won’t Ever Be Entering The World Of Warcraft

Whatever else negative you can say about Uwe Boll, one thing you can’t criticize him on is his strong love for video games. I mean, there may be over 200,000 signatures on an online petition asking that he stop making movies, but he clearly loves the gamer market, and at least goes into each project hoping to make good films for that fanboy community.
Right? Right?!?
“You go for it, to please the game fans, but on the other hand if you have the hard core gamers, they live in their own world. And you cannot fulfill their ideas from a video game based movie, it’s impossible,” Boll recently told MTV News. “And to be honest, the real gamers are the typical download guys, right? They don’t pay anything for movies, because they illegally download the movies. So why I should please these guys? I need the normal audience.”
That’s the Uwe Boll I know and love – the Uwe Boll who’ll criticize even his most ardent followers. God bless you, sir.
But if you’re not going to make a faithful adaptation, why make an adaptation at all? Apparently, the folks over at Blizzard wonder the same thing, since they practically laughed Boll out of their offices when he approached them about making a World of Warcraft adaptation, the director confessed.
“I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, ‘We will not sell the movie rights, not to you…especially not to you,’” Boll revealed. “Because it’s such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.”
A bad movie! He called his hypothetical adaptation bad. Awesome.
What do you think? Could Uwe Boll have made a decent WOW flick? Come to think of it, what would a WOW flick even be about? Sound off below.
