I can personally attest to Battletoads, R-Type and F-Zero GX. R-Type especially kicked the living crap out of me.
One game I think should have been placed on this was the original Ninja Gaiden.

And I do disagree with the list to an extent. Ninja Gaiden is difficult but not THAT bad. Battletoads should be near the top. Blaster Master should be included and Mega Man should be thrown out--never found any of them hard. Contra for the most part is easy...and the hardest one was Shattered Soldier. But, that's just my

I was very young when Contra came out. The first game I played on a home console was the original Super Mario on NES (cousin's), at the age of 9.<-- Was too poor for an NES and had to wait for the SNES
I did beat R-Type though, and that put me off of shooters for awhile.

I bought DMC3 about the time it came out, and I still haven't beaten it lol. I play on and off every few months lol. I've been at the last level for like 5 months but havent played since then

Yes he could. I kicked his ass several times.
Maybe its because I haven't played Video games in years but GOW is by far the hardest game I've ever played. Just getting a hang of all the controls and movements is a PITA.
