Spain made P2P Illegal

"Spanish Congress has made it a civil offense to download anything via p2p networks, and a criminal offense for ISP's to allow users to file-share, even if the use is fair."

They are fawked up.

more and more countries are giving into the Recording artist. to them i say the hell with them.they've made millions and millions of dollar i think they can stand losing maybe 15 cents a song or something like that.
a kid who makes min. wage at Micky D's needs that cash more than Snoop Dogg or Dr Dre.

They're not outlawing P2P, they're outlawing downloading copyrighted files. The article claims that the government will go after ISPs but doesn't mention exactly what consequences they face.

BT = BitTorrent

artists are now getting more and more into the intellectual property law now. If the kid at Mc Ds had a good idea that he could profit from, he wouldn't want some other kid to steal it from his computer....

I agree with you that it doesn't make sense, but they have the money, and the laws protect the money in our society...

You got a point there.

And offering tracks at, for instance, 40 cents each, I bet many people would start buying them, rather than usign P2P to obtain it.

Convenience > *

Also, DRM (Digital RESTRICTIONS management) should dissapear. How come a $1 iTunes track cannot be played by every player? How come you CANNOT sell the track to someone else, as you do with a CD? You pay for restrictions?

allofmp3.com is an excellent example of what WE, cusomters, want. Granted, 10 cents is too cheap, but 40 cents might be a better price. And from those 40 cents, send 10 to the artists.

allofmp3.com is an excellent example because you can get your track in ANY format, just the way you want it, including loss-less for the audiophiles. I want the convenience to then transcode to aacPlus and listen it on my cellphone. Why do I need to be restricted? I paid for that shit.

Sell CD's for 5-10 bucks a pop.
Example of how this works is rappers in the south would do that selling it out of their trunk and they got rich. Actually are richer then up north label rappers and they would only sell maybe 300 to 500 thousand. Seems like in the record industry everyone wants to be billionaires and truthfully if there was no such thing as P2P I would probably buy only 3 to 4 cd's a year if that because most stuff out is gawbage.
