Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
Picked up this game on Saturday. Let me just say, I have never seen a game like this before. It is probably one of the most unique games I've played in a long time. The game basically consists of 16 boss fights, there are no in between enemies that you have to face. You ride to the next location (sometimes they are tricky to find) and you wait to see where the next giant comes from. The first giant you face literally had my adrenaline pumping (if you have a big screen tv, you will see why
)
Graphics are well done even with the amount of space the giants take up on screen, they are literally hundreds of feet high and you are this tiny little pip squeak of a guy. You have to basically climb them, find their weak points, and struggle to hang on while you try to stab the spots. And once you get onto them, they go nuts trying to get you to fall off. You also have to figure out the best way to get onto them, because some have not climbing points that are easily accessible. It took me over an hour to beat one of them because I could not figure out how to climb up onto it. Although after a few minutes of you running around like crazy, the voices that give you this quest throw out some hints.
So far, I have beaten 5 of the 16 and they keep getting harder and more difficult to find. If you are into this type of adventure game, I recommed this totally.
Shadow of the Colossus - 5 stars

Well, the only aspect thats boring is the riding around looking for the next giant, but its not like the map is so huge that it takes forever. And the moment you get close, you just feel yourself tensing up thinking what this thing is gonna look like and what its going to try to do to you. Some truly tense moments in this game. Sad to say, it doesnt really have much replay value, but I think I would still pop it in from time to time.
not too into it. Played the demo for it and just couldn't get myself too excited. I think it's cause someone compared it to God of War, and my expectations weren't met.
Sucks how some people can ruin games for others.
Definitely very innovative though.

Yeah, they are 2 very different games. God of War is on my list to get also. Heard good things about it.

I played it there. Cool game. Gonna pick it up on ebay or something.
So I beat the game last night. Very cool ending. If you havent played it yet, definitely pick it up or at least rent it, you can beat it in 2 or 3 sessions.
*********Spoiler below**********If you have never played this game or ICO, then whatever, you wont care, but if you played both and dont wanna know what happens, dont look.
You kill the last boss, some guys on horses come into the shrine where your girl is resting, waiting to be brought back to life. One of the guys basically tells the others to kill you because you have broken a big law and used magic for personal use, blah blah blah. SO one of the soldiers kills you, but you dont die. Instead, all the giants you killed come to you in ghost form and turn YOU into a giant, which you can briefly control and try to kill those guys, but you dont. You drive them away and you turn back to yourself, but then you really die. Your girl wakes up and finds where you were laying............................................ .....................................ready for this?
A BABY BOY WITH HORNS!!!!!.
I was bugged out. I'm not sure if the guy you play as is actually ICO or his father and that lady is your mom, but it was crazy. Now, they never actually say that this is ICO, but its implied with the horns and just pllaying thru the game. So I guess this is really a ICO prequel. Very cool games. I own both of them and will never get rid of them. I recently played ICO and its still a cool and challenging game. PIck them up if you dont have them already

I was playing this at my friend's house last night. The presentation is outstanding - the scale of the monsters is really awesome but the gameplay itself sorta bored me. Great concept though!
