Ok so i house sit alot. My prob is when i go house sit i want to play xbox live the people have a cable internet set up but no router. Here is a link to best buy what router will work with xboxlive. i know the linksys does i have that at my house. but how about one of the cheaper ones?????

How bout you get a 50 or 100 ft cable and disconect the modem from pc and run it on you xbox? How are you trying to do this anyways? Wired, Wireless? Siince the tv you are going to play on has cable you can always take the modem to that area and plug on..

 

It tells me i cant do that and brings me to the trouble shooting page. i have already tried many times. it is a 50 ft cable i am running from what ever router works. i had to buy the linksys one for my house for it to work and caues we have 3 comps at my house.

I just need to know what router on that link work??

you said you house sit. meaning you go to someone elses house to take care of it while they are gone for long periods of time right?

Meaning not your house. So i asumed that and told you just to get a long cable so that you are not moving things around someone elses house.

In this house, they have pc with cable modem already and no router correct?

And you want to buy a router to use at this house while you sit?

 

and yes it should work fine with xbox.
