Rock Band Reality
Rock Band Reality
Hey guys me and my friend were talking about bands and had an argument over which instruments are more important than others. To help us out rank these instruments in order of importance for a typical band.
1.) Lead Guitar
2.) Piano/keyboard
3.) Bass
4.) Drums
5.) Vocals
1.) Lead Guitar
2.) Piano/keyboard
3.) Bass
4.) Drums
5.) Vocals
What kind of rock?
Most alternative/hard/metal/punk or whatever variation of "rock" do not contain any piano or keyboard. Although there will be bands like Keane and Linkin Park who are essentially polar opposites and occupy a different spectrum of "rock" who likes the piano/keyboard. It definitely isn't the norm, and thats why I think it should be ranked much lower.
Depending on the type of rock, the bass guitar and drums might trade off their positions.
As for vocals, why the hell is it lowest. It's what people here, its what brings the instruments to life. Most rock songs are repeating chords that sound like "che cha che cha che cha" and without the vocals, most songs would be a piece of crap.
Of course, the idea of importance is a human fallacy and prescribing importance to any instrument vital to the creation and success of a band is ultimately useless. You can't drive a car with an engine but no wheels nor can you drive a car with wheels and engine with no steering wheel. In other words, you need what you need, there is no need to assign importance.
Edit: If you're talking about Rock Band the game, how the hell did you get a keyboard?

mastertl ripped the words from my e-mouf. I could've said all that myself, but I was too tired to type a novel post last night.
