IGN's review:

Multiplayer is once again the real Belle of the ball with 12 maps and two new adversarial modes. Several of the maps were ripped from Raven Shield on PC and retooled to fit Vegas 2's play style. Each of the maps performs well. Maps are well balanced and feature the requisite number of alternate paths to keep things fresh. My only real gripes with the multiplayer are that you can't set up your own 16-player game (has to be a dedicated Ubisoft server) and you don't get any experience or ACES points for capturing flags or points on the map. Where's my experience point incentive for planting a bomb and detonating it in an enemy base?

Co-op, on the other hand, is another ball of wax. Ubisoft Montreal did some good. It put in the cutscenes, mission briefings, and tutorials that were missing in the first game. It's all downhill from there. The changes made to the co-op gameplay were poorly implemented. Campaign co-op was shrunk from four players down to two. But you are still joined by two AI teammates. Only the host player is able to issue commands, leaving the second player as nothing more than a hired gun. Player two is instead forced to sit idly by as the first player orders teammates around and completes objectives in the level. And if the host goes down, your AI teammates have no one to tell them what to do until he respawns. Why in the hell can't the second player feel like more of a part of the storyline? And why only two players for campaign when you can still have four-player co-op in Terrorist Hunt?

The gameplay in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is awesome; it just isn't as awesome as it was 18 months ago. The main complaint that most gamers are sure to have with RSV2 is that it's simply too similar to the game that we played late in 2006. The ability to sprint is the only change to the core gameplay with the rest feeling like minor tweaks. The core is still great and will be a blast for anyone who hasn't played through the original (though the lack of synopsis of the events in Vegas 1 makes it a bit tough), but those who have been down the strip before might be less enthused.

Aesthetically Vegas 2 is similar to its gameplay in that not a whole lot has changed. Unreal Engine 3 still shines through in the detailed character models but the environments are less flashy overall, mainly because you spend the majority of your time away from the bright lights of Las Vegas. There also seem to be more instances of the framerate slowing down, sometimes to a crawl. A symptom that is exacerbated on the PS3 where textures and effects are already not up to the 360's standard. One feather that can be placed in the hat of Vegas 2 is that the environments are more interactive than they were before. Glass can be blown out of entire floors of buildings and certain environment set pieces can be impressively blown to bits.

As I said previously, the biggest problem that most will have with Vegas 2 is that it doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the first. It doesn’t feel like an expansion pack exactly–-it’s more than that--but it doesn’t feel like a full-fledged sequel either. For those who haven’t taken a stroll down the streets of Sin City than you needn’t look any further than Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but those looking for a sequel that surpasses the original in everyway imaginable will be disappointed.

$39.99 at Fry's for the 360 version. Make sure you do a price match.

hmmmmm, now I'm contemplating NOT buying this all together... I'm still a blast with COD4, AND with the 4 new maps around the corner... I may save $60 (already pre-paid)

The reviews are overall good for it, just not great. Where did you buy it, I would think they would still price match it.

If you liked the last one, I am sure you will like this one since they seem pretty similar. I am getting a little bored with COD4 and I am sure I can have at least a few weeks of fun with R6V2. So for $40 it seems like a great deal and if you don't like it trade it in.

well, what happened was... I bought Army of Two @Game Stop... and it just sat there in my front seat in the bag... It didn't even make it out of the car After reading some bad reviews especially regarding M.P., I was over it... so I took it back and told them to just put it towards RSV2... I don't know if Game Stop match prices tho...

I'm going to buy it regardless of the reviews... I'm going to Vancouver in early April... I'll be there for 2 weeks. And our pad up there has no internet... (it's pointless cuz we're only use the place like 2-3 weeks out of the year ) ...so I figure, I'll just play the single player campaign... I highly doubt I'll go out every night... (I'm such a nerd, I'm actually going to take my 360 up to Vancouver )

Try cancelling your pre-order (the should atleast give you a store credit) and then go to CC or BB and have them match the price, unless you happen to live near a Frys.

Vegas was fun, but after playing COD4, I don't think even Vegas2 can hang with it. I'll probably just torrent it and play single player like I did with the first one

Its good so far, nothing much is new on gameplay the graphics are not as good as expected. Online is fun new maps and game modes. But its nothing amazing but if you enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas 1 you will like this game.

Im probably going to get it. does this game support 1080.. I thought the grafix on the first r6v werent that good until i learned that i had to take my tv off of 1080 and set it to 760. it made a world of a difference.

usually it is somewhere on the TV. also if it is a newer plasma or LCD it would say it. what kind of tv do you have. when playing r6v i would manually have to set my ps3 to have a max resolution of 760.. i think it is under setting-> display. it was a night and day difference. when it was in 1080 it was blurry and hard to kill people. once i set it to 760 it was nice and crisp. go figure, the 1080 is the best resolution. But from what i have read, the game wasn't designed for 1080 and thus the picture was bad.

It depends on the TV size. I have a 32" that only goes to 1080i. 720p looks better than 108i on my tv. But 1080p > the others

I jumped into the middle of a match the other day... I "followed" one of you guys... and it wasn't Team Deathmatch or anything but I think it was the one with the brief case... anyway, I had no clue to what da hell was going on... I was still used to COD4's contols... right off the bat... I meant to crouch, hitting the "B" button... but ended up throwing a grenade killing a teammate... I guess friendly fire was on...

Needless to say... I left the match before gettin' booted... (and went back to COD4)

sooooooooo I am not sure if i like this game. For one...I suck, it is COMPLETELY different the COD4 (obviously) and is going to take me sometime to get use to. It's almost too cartoonish for me.

The wife is gone for the next 9 days so I am going to spend some time giving it some more attention.

Also, I can maybe connect to one out of 9 games online...driving me absolutely nuts

why are you hating on a game just because you're not used to the controls?

I wouldn't call it hating... I just wish you could change up the controls to exactly how you want it...

I can already tell they did nothing about spawn camping... COD4 took care of that...

I'll get around to it... but right now... I'm still really into COD4... And yes, I DO kinda agree with Scott about, it, being rather cartoonish...

Not entirely. Whenever me and my buddies play, if we get you on the nuke missle stage we spawn came the shit out of them. We all stand outside the hangers and pick them off as they spawn, its a beautiful thing.

And on the blackhawk down level we will spawn camp you in the back corner of the stage where the russians spawn. Also a beautiful things.

COD4 is definitely way better than R6V in terms of spawn camp control though, especially since you can just peek around corners in R6V then quickly take cover.

Its funny playing on the Shipment map with the containers. You spawn camp pretty much anywhere....

Doubt I'll be getting R6V 2 though, I had the same feeling when I decided to get COD4 after being a Halo 3 addict but its seems like R6V 2 is more of the same-old.

i rented r6v2 its decent, but the whole first playing controls AI sucks, they should of split up AI and give each play 1 AI.

I've played this for a bit now and I have to say it is quite repititious. Just as in the first installation, you clear casinos, lounges and libraries. But then again, I still liked the first game and like this one.

This time around, they have either big maps to engage in long-range fire fights or super close quarters battles. Oh, and the experience points for different categories is kinda cool.

I can see how the split screen campaign co-op would've been better had they assigned an AI player each. I have yet to play this online. Hopefully it's better than the first online version.

I am just getting started playing COD4 online. Btw, only one of you guys who I've messaged has added me.
