My wife just got me Wii for my Birthday (it's coming up on 1/22). I'm familiar with the games, I've been mooching off of my brother in law and playing by him whenever I go to his house (it's always a rivalry between us in the sports games)...Anyway, my brother also just got Wii, and we both set up the internet connection on both of our Wii's, we can send messages to each other, we can transfer Mii's to each other, etc....question is, being that both of our Wii's are connected to each other via the internet, can we both play against each other at the comfort of our own home or is this not possible?

yes you can depends on the game the games i know of so far are super mario strikers and dragon ball z BT3 and SSM Brawl when it comes out those are the most popular games that have online play i think there are others but i am not sure and its free of course

dont feel bad whiskers its not like xbox live set up or anything not chat rooms or accounts and such, but hey its free. each game that has online capabability(not that many) has its own deal.
There is also mertroid prime 3 while dosent have online multiplayer has a a thing where if you put a freinds wii in the game data you can exchange "freind tickets" for "freind tokens" to allow you to unlock lil bonus stuff when combined with other tokens of differnt types earned thoughout the game. Such as the Mii "bobble head" which I thought was funny if you unlock it you will have a bobblehead of yourself wearing the clasic armor of samus inside your spaceship on the dash.

 

So what the heck is the point of being able to connect to other people's Wii's?

The only things you can do are send messages and transfer Mii's?

 

I think there's a rumor that Wii Sports 2 might have online play.

 

only certain games can you play online. Like the fore mentioned mario strikers. Brawl is coming out in march and will support 4 player online play, it will be EPIC.

 

mario kart is also sposed to be online... definitely not like 360, but decent.

 

Strikers is fun online. I've done it before. I also like playing with random people.

Brawl is coming up next and yes.....it will be epic. Cannot wait!
