Personally, I'm more intrigued by F.E.A.R. . I may pick that one up if the user reviews seem decent.

I've heard lackluster buzz from this one beyond the so-so IGN review. I'll wait on it.

 

See is Quake 4 all about fear or about action? To me, Quake games have always been about action action action! If you want to be pissy scared out yourseat, play Doom 3 by yourself with 5.1 channel in the dark.....

I've read that the multiplayer aspect is not as good.

But, I'm a sucker for eye-candy games. I'll buy it.

 

damn. i was expecting some kick ass multiplayer action too. i pwned nubs with the railgun.

guess i'll have to wait for the next UT

 

Loved the railgun. Best weapon evar...in any FPS game.

 

What's up with ID not pushing the multiplayer aspects of their games? Quake 3 owned until the Half-life/ CS family started taking over. I'm pissed that the Mod community had to pick up the slack for Doom 3 and now Quake?

On the flipside the ID mod community has come up with some kick ass selections like 32 player support and online co-op for Doom3 and are about to come out with a 4 player co-op (Next installment of the Last Man Standing Mod) that works on all the expansions/mods including Ressurection of Evil. So if this is any indication, Quake 4 won't go to waste just because the ID guys got lazy here afterall

UT has always sucked and will always suck balls compared to Quake.

ut and counterstrike/hl are great and all, but i preferred Urban Terror when people still played it...dare i say it was one of the all time greatest mods for any engine evAr

Swap out the graphics and I think you can swing it. 2700 DDR isn't all that bad. 3200 is the sweet spot but with 1gb in some cases it doesn't matter anyway. IF you're trying to save a few bucks, grab a Geforce 6600Gt and you should be set. Any one of them runs between 140-200 on newegg.com. But if you've got dough, grab a 7800GTX for about 450 or you can settle for the middle but old king (as of July this year) Geforce 6800 GT for around 280-300. Good luck and happy fragging

debating which FPS to get...i think im going with FEAR

 

I played the FEAR demo last night, meh.... It's like Doom 3. Mouse control was a little strange. It was like that mouse acceleration was turn on or something.

 

How was the mood in the game tho? I heard that it's scary as fark...

 

Nah, I'll probably will be starting my ultimate star wars marathon Tuesday. ROTS comes out the same day. I may pick it up in the future though. I just got a Radeon X800XL 256MB the other day to replace my broken 9800 Pro on my custom built PC. The card runs great, but I had already beaten all of my computer games before I got it, so I am anxious to try it out on a new game.

Just ordered my copy, can't believe I waited a week, I had the last 3 quakes the day it came out. Anyone play it yet and have any opinions?
