Good grief. Who cares what her orientation is? The game has a social commentary and if that's what the writers want, I'm all for it. Should not take away from the experience or gameplay given Naughty Dog's track record.

I looking forward to its release date. Guess I should finish Horizon Zero Dawn first.

So nobody has followed the recent pandemonium with this game?
https://www.sausageroll.com.au/enter...-divisiveness/
An anonymous source linked to Nauhgty Dog Inc. reached out to us with the following message regarding The Last of Us 2 gameplay footage leak:
“I don’t doubt, even for a moment, that this leak came from the studio. The Last of Us Part 2 is very divisive and, as you can imagine, some of the team aren’t really thrilled to be working on the game.”
The source goes on to talk about how stale the work environment has been at Naughty Dog and how so many people have had to bite their tongues because ‘cancel culture’ is very much alive inside of the studio.
Our source also alleged that the high turnover in staff is because of the reasons mentioned above. “What’s really sad is that nobody is allowed to talk about any of this. Many employees have left Naughty Dog because in-house politics and they are under a strict NDA and absolutely cannot discuss the studio’s ‘productions practices’ secrets. Oops!”
Naughty Dog Inc., has a turnover rate of 70% which skyrocketed around the time The Last of Us Part II went into production.
Apparently the studio is trying to make a game that caters to gamers who demand interracial lesbian relationships and gender non-conforming theys be front-and-center in the game. Of course this is an article talking about the leak, not the leak itself (very well may get into a bit o trouble posting the leak.) This video seemed to sum up a lot of people's thoughts well:

Plenty of spoiler ridden footage was leaked online by alleged disgruntled Naughty Dog employee. The Last of Us 2 leaked gameplay footage was supposedly released because they hate the political bias in the game.
Earlier this year Sony DMCA’d a post that alleged to contain the game’s entire plot and, if it was a legitimate leak, it proved to be extremely divisive with some of its far left leaning plot elements. An anonymous source linked to Nauhgty Dog Inc. reached out to us with the following message regarding The Last of Us 2 gameplay footage leak:

I didn't finish Uncharted on the Vita or Last of Us - not on the games themselves, but more on me. I thought the writing and world building was great in both games.
Given the choice in a game where you can create your own character, I will tend to choose a female character. Depends on how character design looks. Being able to choose their gender or not mentioning it, sure, doesn't matter to me though I know it does to some. Doesn't hurt to include that option.
But undermining your creative staff to pander to YouTube critics is bad, especially when it leads to your talent leaving like that. Nothing really stood out to me as wrong or overly exclusive with the stories. Things look grim, kind of reminds me of Bioware and Mass Effect (yes, I played a femshep)

About the leak, it was confirmed that it was not leaked by a former employee. Apparently it was a hacker(s)

I guess it would make sense; Sony does have a long history with being hacked Then again some sources are saying the leaker/hacker was divulging info only an insider would know... maybe there were two incidents? I guess I'll stay tuned.

Most of the complaints are about the writing and the story; some saying it ruins the game. If you're not bothered by writing and story then it sounds like it should be good.

Review bombing is nothing new.
Behold, the combination of a game with multiple glaring flaws, coupled with anti-Blizzard sentiment after the Hong Kong/China controversy:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/w...t-iii-reforged
For games and movies, if there's a massive discrepancy between the critics and consumers, I look into the more highly regarded reviews by regular people.
These games can get review bombed by hundreds of people within hours. I guess thousands, in this case. So critiques (good and bad) of games like this will need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Breath of the Wild is a top seller for the Switch. Been out for 3 years now. It has half of the reviews that TLoU2 racked up in one day.

So you think it's a bunch of trolls who never played the game? I'm sure to an extent yes, but a lot of them seem to know what the ending is.
Also Breath of the Wild didn't have a bullshit SJW story everyone hated.

Likely because of the inclusion/LBGTQ theme because some gamers are idiotic hateful morons...?
Dunno. I'm looking forward to this once it arrives...en route -- should arrive Monday.

I'm not invested in the game one way or another. I tried the first game and while it was impressive, it wasn't my kind of game. I did watch a couple of videos about the game out of curiosity:
Then at the end of the video, he (basically) asks viewers, "are you getting this game? Cause there's no way I'm touching it" he doesn't even own the game.
This uploader actually played the game through. He admits that he struggles to continue playing at times, due to some things the game forces you to do. In particular, there is one character that is unanimously disliked, and you are forced to to play as them. Yes, he also criticizes the poor writing.
He does also talk about how impressed he was with the game when it came to the graphical fidelity, the environmental details, and various other design choices. In the end, he gives the game a 7/10, which given his reasoning seems pretty fair to me. In another video, he plays through the game a second time to focus more on the said hated character; he also confirms that the ending does indeed, suck.
From what I am observing, I think this game has the issues that plagued the Star Wars Episode 8...it's "cool" to hate on it.

There is probably a subset of people doing it because everyone else is. Still stupid to form an opinion about something you haven't fully experienced yourself. If you don't like what a game stands for, or are only willing to believe what you wanna hear (the negatives), then don't buy it.

I completely understand where people are coming from, because my favorite series was Mass Effect. Played through the entire series a couple of times. The ending to the trilogy was completely lazy and very disappointing, despite attempting to temper my own expectations. Bioware also had a writer drop out of the process, but that happened late enough that it basically only harmed the ending.
The ratings for ME3 are pretty bad, though also fairly undeserved. Overall, it really is an excellent game. The ending wasn't leaked, so people got to play through it. At least it wasn't brigaded like TLoU2 is. While I'm making parallels to what happened with Bioware... this could be the beginning of the downward spiral for Naughty Dog.
I can completely understand why a lot of people could hate TLoU2. It has nothing to do with SJWs or anything relating to them. In fact, what I would argue is that it's almost the complete opposite. From what I can assume, the writer(s) were trying to be too edgy with the majority of the narrative, then with the ending... well having seen it and hearing critiques of it, I have no clue WTF they were trying to do. Bad writing, for sure.

Started it last night...
It's a hefty game so make sure there's enough HD space. I had to say bye to Lara Croft (both games) to get LoU2 to install.
Pretty nice graphics overall and voice acting. Still too used to FF7R so will need to get back to "reality" with the mechanics of this game I suppose

About 20 hours into the game overall timewise logged...
A super intense and often frightening game as you're going through decrepit buildings in the dark with just a flashlight and your few weaponry. The new "stalkers" suck gonads...no way your hearing abilities can track them and that big office I had to go through was insanity with these things crawling about and hidden in corners/cubicles.
I've made it to the big Ferris wheel in Seattle in the pouring storm...we'll what's next.
Big change of pace from FF7R but fantastic overall. Gripping story, game play, sound, and graphics.

Wrapped it up over the weekend. Great game...the story is remarkable and obviously, if you are following the news, breaking new ground...
I missed a couple of items along the way so, I may replay but I am unsure. The game is quite harrowing and stressful TBH...you're on edge for almost all of it and just thinking about the Ground Zero chapter has me gritting my teeth. The subway tunnels were bad but the hospital in Seattle takes the gold.
Anyways, with FF7R and TLoU2, that's 2 straight 10/10 games. The Ghost of Tsushima is inbound later this month and if the hype is justified, I'd be on a roll with some amazing games.

A worthy sequel. But, given the haters, a very clear different path taken on the story arc...some shocking developments...the LBGTQ angle does not bother me at all nor does it feel forced. The story is fantastic TBH. Revenge and redemption, I think, are the themes.
Frankly, TBH, this is not like Game of Thrones-esque in the WTF path taken for the plot though. The game has become alot more stealth-based IMO overall, though going in with guns blazing is doable but likely not a good idea.

So, frankly...the haters are xenophobic, sexist pigs.
Abby, who is one of the key characters, is not a typical video game character. She's massive in the sense that she's a true body-builder. So, she's shredded and big. And so, yeah...given the demographic of that type of athlete, her chest is I'm sorry, not the size of her head. Apparently, people are hating on that. She also wore braces in a flashback, I think. So, no...she's not Tifa Lockhart from FF7R.
Everyone in this game is basically..."normal". No one has the perfect body. And other ethnicities play a big role in the plot: Jewish, Asian, African-American...
It's definitely inclusive. But, in an elegant and well-done way. Not in-your-face and feeling forced.
