PS3: Resistance 2

Resistance Fall of Man 2 Announed
excited for this one... if the first one was rushed for a launch title, think of this one w. all the new features from IGN
before skate and COD4, this was ALL i played... anyone up for 8 person campaign coop online?
# The game will feature the standard single-player campaign as well as an eight-player online co-op campaign that's objective-based. Two people can still work together locally.
# Ready to beat each other senseless online? Resistance 2 will feature 60-player matches set in the United States.
# Sorry, Rachel; the campaign will pick up from Fall of Man's epilogue and stick solely with Nathan Hale as he copes with getting shot down in Iceland, escaping to the states and joining the "Sentinels" program.
# There will be classes. Characters will start out from one of three basic templates -- a "tank-style" soldier rocking a chain gun, a "Special Ops class" that seems like a sniper or a medic whose "Medicator" gun will hurt enemies and heal allies -- and go from there.
# When you and a team of friends head into battle, there will not be a selectable difficulty. Insomniac will be auto-scaling the challenge to the skill of you and your squad. When you jump into a random online match, you'll be teamed with partners and opponents who are around your personal level.
# "Personal" is going to be a big word in Resistance 2. The game will have dedicated servers for gaming, community and stats as well as gamer profile pages on myresistance.net. In-game, the setup will be completely open when it comes to clans and parties -- the era of invites has come to a close.
# Vehicles are in the game, but Insomniac wouldn't let on about their role.
# The game's set in the '50s, but expect a more modern U.S. landscape as well as a focus on the aerial side of the Chimeran attack.
# The game's AI has been overhauled -- they have improved routines and detachable armor pieces -- and boss battles will be more important than ever.
Exciting, no? We'll have more info on Resistance 2 as it becomes available, but for the full scoop, check out Game Informer's February issue.

What, opposed to R1?
R1 takes place in a world where WW2 never took place. It's around the same time 1940-1950's.....first one is in Europe, 2nd one is a few years later in America. It's got old school weapons and at the same futuristic weapons, it's a very interesting blend.

Need more room in
iTrader: (6)
Finally came in on saturday, and got to play it last night.
Campaign was pretty boring, I was starting to fall asleep.
Cooperative mode is ehhhh
Competitive mode is fun, not the Skirmish though. The deathmatchs are worthwhile
I think I had too high of an expectation for this game. Its not bad though, the deathmatchs never really get old

I LOVED resistance 1. The campaign was GREAT....the story was extremely solid, game play was tight, graphics were great, narration was great....you could use vehicles, and the weapon access was awesome as well as the weapons themselves.
Resistance 2 * MAYBE SPOILERS*
You can only carry 2 guns at a time- this edit sucks...especially since there is a lack of additional guns...the first Resistance had many weapons, all which i found myself using constantly.....
in R:Fom2 I basically found myself only using like 4 guns the entire campaign, the Bullseye, Carbine, Marksmen or Fareye/ and Shotgun with the occasional LARK for bosses.
They got rid of the backlash grenade and replaced it with some crappy ass poison grenade.
The graphics are cartoony, the AI is alot harder , even on "normal"....there are no vehicles to drive, the campaign is shorter, and there is a GIANT cliff-hanger at the end.....
but with such a sub-par campaign it really makes me wonder if the next title will be worth the 60 bucks, even though the story has TONS of potential, and i am interested in seeing the series through to a finish...
It does not deserve the 9.5 IGN gave it.
All in all, the game is lacking....it does not have that solid feel to it. I will not play through campaign again.

*sigh* this game is disappointing...it is easy at some parts, and it is unbelievable frustrating at others, and never really fun at any point.
I only played one quick round of multiplayer, 24 player, in a map way too friggin big for that many people. wasnt as fun as I hoped, but hopefully the other modes/online coop will be better. I wanted to wait till I finished campaign to start playing, but I might just say fuck it, because the single player is only pissing me off

i think the online makes it worthwhile for me...
the campaign isnt really amazing nor fulfilling... i am now just hoping that i finish it soon
but the online multiplayer is quite fun... for me at least...
i did wish they retained more of the last game, i loved that shit, mult now seem not as skill oriented - but what impresses me is no lag with so many people... its crazy

the campaign was fun i thought, not anything GREAT by any means but there were a TON of truely exciting and fun moments. The big problem i had with the campaign was that there really is no story....none whatsoever. So many plot holes, so many questions, so many things left unexplained. very bizarre. The end boss was way too easy and the end cut scene was a let down.
The multiplayer on this game MORE than makes up for it though. i dont think ive ever had more fun playing online multiplayer than i do with the co-op modes on this game. It is truly a new and original experience involving alot of strategy more than just run-n-gun.
the competitive multiplayer is also really a treat, i dont care what anyone says but 60 player online battles are unlike anything ive seen yet.
the graphics are quite good on this game, nothing that shocked or impressed me but they are very good, and polished. there is no pop-in, there is no weird texture problems, there are no glitching issues. it may not be the prettiest thing out there but its very very polished.

I wish the campaign gameplay was as polished as everything else. It looks like they kind of skimped on it, maybe because they knew the multiplayer was so good, and more important to them. but what annoys me is the mechanics of some of the campaign missions, and they can get quite annoying
but i do wish it would be more thought out. the big bossy guy... ugh not the best drawing of him lol

I love Resistance 1 and never get bored with the deathmatches(Online)!! I still play it today and was curious how R2 is comparable in the deathmatches/team deathmatches?
