I bought mine from Best Buy. Strangely, it said "special order" on the tag, so I don't know if someone ordered it then canceled, or if the store just brought them in anyway.
After I bought it, I saw another one there later, but now they don't have any.
I paid $299 + tax.
I was going to order online, but when I saw it at BB, I picked it up there as any savings I would get from buying online, would be negated by the shipping to Hawaii.

_____ like a rabbit
ive gotten screwed on pre-orders before. I never get them on the day they come out, defeats the purpose in my eyes. Id rather pay more and get it on the day it comes out rather then saving ten bucks and waiting on the shipping times...

If you're lucky enough to own a PS3, you're most likely deciding whether or not to fork out $40 for GT 5 Prologue. While that might seem like a lot of money for a "demo" game, the latest news on the full version is that it's still a full year away from launch. That's quite a while to wait, so we're guessing most people will break down and buy the Prologue when it's released on April 17.
Part of that wait will hopefully be because GT 5 may include realistic damage to vehicles for the first time. While manufacturers still aren't keen on the idea, Gran Turismo creator Kazanori Yamauchi says that they are coming around to it. Damage modeling appears in other driving games like Forza Motorsport 2, so we don't see why manufacturers would mind seeing it Gran Turismo, as well.

I've been playing the Japanese version for a couple of weeks now. With a couple of races, I bought the E92 M3 in the game. So here is my question: Is it simply impossible to drift in GT5 Prologue or is it just Forza Motorsport 2 for XBox that makes drifting so easy.( I have Traction Control turned off)

who's going to download it and who's going to buy it in the store? Me I'm going to BB tomorrow, I got it planned out! I get off work at like 1:30 there's a BB about a mile away so I'll head over there. The flyers say it'll be there by 2:00pm which means to me 2pm at the latest so it should be there when I show up. If not I'll wait, I've been waiting all my life so what's a few more minutes. I was supposed to work at 4 but I got the shift picked up so I'll have the next 24 hrs to devote to GT5P! I would advise against downloading it cause I fully expect the Playstation store to grind to a halt when this thing launches and I expect download to take hours if not days! Seriously! Does anyone else have a much trouble downloading from the PS store? It's usually slow for me, in fact I just upgraded to firmare 2.30 and that took about 90 mins just to download so GT5P is going to take FOR fricking EVER, GT5 will come out before I finish downloading GT5P!
Anyone buying a steering wheel or a siaxxis dualshock along with it?

Big Block go VROOOM!
Generic PS3 question: Do controllers have to somehow be "authorized" or "signed" in order to work with the PS3? I was just wondering if there was any chance of playing GT5P with my ECCI uberwheel.

I think they have to be supported by the PS3. You can't plug a 360 controller in to the USB port and control the PS3. Other than that your Siaxxis controller does get paired to a single PS3 at a time so you can't take your controller over to your friends house and start playing his games with your siaxxis without first plugging in your controller to his ps3 via USB and hitting the PS button which will pair your controller with their PS3.
There's probably a supported list of accessories somewhere on teh PS3 site.

Never mind. Found the answer to my question in the Playstation forums. Guess I'll keep my driving to the PC.
Hello Dave,
The game console manufacturers have very effectively prevented niche market hardware manufacturers such as us from providing compatible driving systems for their products. Licensing costs for any game consoles are much too high to be able to incorporate them into the price of our products and still have prices that are marketable. It is not unrealistic to say that adding
just the cost to cover licensing could nearly double the price of our driving system. Unless this changes we will not be able to provide game console compatible complete systems. Currently the best that we can do is to provide pedals that are compatible with game console compatible mass market controllers such as the Logitech DFP and G25.
More questions let us know.
Thanks,
John Pribble

The prices for those systems range from $900 to $1400! And that is for the Consumer level products!
The most expensive Logitech system is the G25 and that is $300!

^^^As the guy said, ECCI is a niche manufacturer. I would venture to say they probably sell no more than 1,500 to 2,000 units per year. Probably less. Console licensing costs are much more palletable when you can spread them across the volume that Logitech sells in comparison.
