We don't have any gaming systems in our house and my two girls couldn't care less about video games. I saw that Target and a number of other retailers have PS2's on sale for $130. I am interested in Guitar Heroes and sports games. No violent games and I don't care about Bluray. Is it worth getting the PS2? The PS3 is much more expensive. What else would I need? TIA

 

The PS2 is still by far a great value. They have a huge library of games. You really can't go wrong with it if next-gen gaming isn't necessary. Some people may suggest even an Xbox, but I have no personal experience with it. I have had PS2 since day 1. You can even buy a used system and save even more money.

 

ps2 has so many games for so many audiences its not even funny....and it's an extra dvd player too..

 

I'd totally recommend a PS2 as well. In addition to what's in the box you'll need to get a memory card to save games. It only comes with one controller so you'll also need a second controller if you'd like to play with friends/family.
