online console gaming connection speed question
ok so i just moved to florida and im looking for an internet service provider and at&t are one of the few providers in my area. im on the phone with them and they have a connection speed of 768kb a sec for 19.95 a month so im like thats fine i really only just surf the net. but then the the ladys like if you download music or play games on online, which i do on my ps3 i should upgrade. so im like ok whats the next highest up speed and shes say 1.5mb a sec for 37.95. shes like im sure if you get get the lower one your going to upgrade soon anyway because its too slow. so i need some opinions am i ok with the 768kb or do i really need the 1.5mb connection speed?

768kb sucks. In fact, DSL sucks. You should see what your cable company is offering.

bandwidth and latency are not directly related.... i would assume 800kbps is more than enough for online gaming as long as you are not downloading anything

I have a friend with a terrible connection in a apt complex and he regularly gets 500kbps to 1mbps. Though he has never had problems gaming netflix, pandora, hulu and anything else that I used religiously is completely useless.
Also 1.5 for over 20 dollars a month is a complete rip off in my area.
